This team is pretty solid. I hope Shero doesnt make any moves before or at the deadline....maybe a veteran backup goalie if its cheap, but this team really is playing solid hockey

We have ZERO secondary scoring. This team will need to make a move at the deadline. Hopefully we don't fork over a first round pick and a D prospect or something for an older legend type that comes in and doesn't play with any passion.

Love how Vitalie is playing this year. He's like a pitbull out there.

Thats exactly what i'm affraid of too. Shero cant keep giving up 1st rd picks & top prospects for rentals or old guys. In reference to secondary scoring, its now costly to get quality 3rd liners these days. Would love to see megna/sutter/vitalle as our fixture third line.

i know its a big IF at this point, but i still view bennett as a solid secondary piece. if he can come back, that moves either him or jokinen down to the third line. a third line of sutter/megna (HA, his bag already packed)/ and either bennett or jokinen, honestly to me that isnt bad at all for not giving up any assets for it

I totally agree. The injuries at defense haven't been as much of a problem as the ones at forward. At least it seems that way. Good thing we've had so many drafts and picks ups for defense over the last several years. Having Bennett back could be a big swing. It'd also be nice to see Duper rewarded for his hard work more often.

I'd be pretty disappointed to see Megna and/or Despres downgraded. Wouldn't be very fair.

I wouldn't be using Conner's name too much. Yes he had a little bit of skill, but the rest of his game is pure AHL.

Megna however should not be sent down when players come back. He should be a fixture on that 3rd line until he proves otherwise.

Interestingly enough, the Penguins' 3rd and 4th lines are on pace for 49 goals. Their 3rd and 4th lines scored 42 goals last year, which obviously wasn't good enough. But despite massive injuries, there's been slight improvement. Long way to go - the 3rd line itself scored 50 goals during 2009.

(I counted Jokinen's goals this year as all top-6, even though 1 or two of them were during the few times he's been a 3rd liner this year. I counted all of Jokinen's goals from last year as bottom six goals, even though that's not entirely true, either).

Dude ... really? That was last night. In total, we have no secondary scoring.

A healthy Beau Bennett with an available James Neal does some good things to the line depth. Megna not showing me any reasons to doubt him as of yet for that 3rd line RW spot.
