Not how I saw it... apparently you dont like that style of hockey.. or you were to busy getting "poop faced" and watching football to notice a good game.... or just being an Oilers fan completely tarnished your opinion on what good hockey should be ;p

It was crisp all around.. some nice saves.. some nice hits.. good puck support... good paced with some creativity mixed in.

Crisp all around....geez. You need to watch some real hockey. That was anything but.

You think Ramo will get the next start? When that tying goal went in I thought oh crap, that will be 3 straight starts for Berra & then he stopped Skinner. I gotta agree with our Oiler buddy, the 1st two periods were like watching paint dry. The 3rd did get a little better, the overtime was pretty good. Some teams should just play 4 on 4 for the sake of the fans.

Just bugging you. Just sounded like my wife who would make up twists in a story to get the kids to do what she wants when they were small.

Kadri isn't a large player but Burke drafted him & didn't trade him. Some teams just make young players over learn & ripen in the AHL, Detroit is notorious for that. Doesn't mean Sven is getting traded. Thing is, Burke is a smart home, a trade would have to be pretty sweet for him to give up on any kid. I didn't have that confidence with Feasty.

- Kevin R

Kadri is 6'0 188lbs....Gaudreau is 5'7 155lbs...significant difference I would say. But the thing is, Kadri always played with an edge...hits guys often despite being not overly large. He was sent down the AHL many times to work on his strength and defensive game, so I can see a similar thing happen with Gaudreau if he comes into the NHL like Kadri did trying to dangle and skate through everyone, only to end up on his butt.

Mark my words though, if Gaudreau is getting pushed around, hes going right down to Abby. Burke wont stand for that, and I can guarantee that their convo was largely about how hes doing physically...only concern with the kid at the moment.

The problem he has with Sven is that hes not showing enough to make up for his size and he feels as though he floats too much. Sven needs to go down and work on his strentgh and gain some confidence. Its fine to have guys in your top 6 that dont crash and bang, but they had better score or play a strong defensive game. I do agree that they need to be patient with Baertschi because he does have some raw talent.

Didn't like Ramo. I could see why he is not getting the bulk of the time. He moves too much and ends up out of position. Which is why he gets lit up by fast puck moving teams. Hate to admit it but I've liked what I've seen of Berra live.
- Iggysbff

I agree in the fact I like Berra better but you can't argue that both have played fairly well. Neither of them have let goals in like Dubs has this year.

"Edmonton starter Devan Dubnyk whiffed on a long hopeful shot from the blue-line by Seidenberg, who was sending the puck in while his team made a line change just past the mid-mark of the first period."
This quote from the good people of Sportsnet.com

At least the Flames have a couple guys that can stop pucks
Whiffed that good humor right there

Duby has admittedly struggled a lot this season. With even league average goaltending the Oil have another 10 points easy right now.

As well as Reilly.
- whipper334

Yeah, Rielly is going to lean a lot on his skating to make up for that, because he cant move guys very well in his own end.

I agree...Im willing to bet that one of Baer or Backlund is moved sometime in January.
- Colin Dambrauskas

He said the 27th is when the trade freeze is over. . . I expect something then.

Was as at the game & made a point of watching Semin. There were many times I just saw him float out there doing absolutely nothing. Hard to believe Rutherford hasn't gone down to the bench & want to beat the $6mill crap out of him. What the heck has happened to Jordon Stall? Eric is elite but Jordan made very little impact& not very visible in that game. Skinner is quite the little player & I do think Sven can become our Skinner type of player too.

Sven has really lost his game out there & I think Ward & playing top line & top PP minutes will get him back on track. Hey he's 21, Kesler didn't find his game until he was 23. but agree, you don't have a Lucic frame, you better score.

Agreed & they are right up against the Cap but they played like a 1st year rebuilding team. That game was about as even as you can get but no way it should have been. Carolina have the talent & paying big bucks to have steam rolled us.

Colin, are you preparing a blog on the next GM of the Calgary Flames? You think Nieuy would be a good choice? I think he would, smart, experienced but raw enough to be the perfect protégé for Burke. My God, it looked like they let Burke out of the drunk tank at the Remand Centre to go do the press conference.

Rumour has it that insiders in the Dallas area have said Nieuy won't take the job. Doesn't want to uproot the family.

Could be bullsh!t, just hear Friedman say it on the radio this AM.

On another note I'm so glad Calgary took Poirier over Shinkaruk. Poirier is exactly a Burke type player.
- whipper334

I'm so excited about Poiriers potential. It seems he can do do it all. Still not sure why Butter kept him off team Canada. Ot seems he would have been a perfect 3rd or 4th liner that could move up if needed. Speed to kill on the large ice surface. Canada better win gold or Butter is going to be questioned on a lot of player selections me thinks. I mean seriously, Shinkaruk over so many better options???
