Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal - and I'm not a chanter either - but it did strike me as a little odd cause I don't really consider playing Montreal (or any other Canadian team) an international match.

But you're right, it definitely could have been for the guy who came out as a present, or some other individual in the military, or perhaps even something shown on the jumbotron.

Again, if you wanna show national appreciation for a guy returning home (which was very, VERY well done by the Flyers last night), that's fine. But it happens whenever we play Montreal, or Ottawa, or Toronto. I just don't get it.

Maybe play w/ discs of frozen beer?

A potentially tasty, if messy, solution. I like it. Plus it has the added benefit of giving your chugging opponent potential brain freeze, and that isn't going to help their game one little bit.

The home PP needs to get better - it's now at 9.7% which is 28th in the league. A goal in the five minute PP last night would have put the game away.

If you put Mason on last season's team or last season's PP on this team, you would have a club that comfortably makes the playoffs.

Technically, so were Cal Heeter and Michael Leighton. And Hart Ross Akeson.

Late in the game yesterday. I could dig it if it was an ironic chant, but I don't give us that much credit.
- BulliesPhan87

Actually it went on from the onset of the game in smaller pockets... A lot of it I thought had to do with the hero thing they did with the army guy who came home from deployment and his patents unwrapped him in a box as a life size Gi Joe doll. They prolly didnt show it on tv

It wasn't the biggest issue for sure, but it also wasn't even close to what Mason has provided since he's been acquired.

I would rather have Raffl in the lineup than McGinn. Raffl has speed and creativity that Tye seems to lack. Not sure why they didn't give Raffl some time in the AHL but it could be that they had no one else to bring what he does. With that said, I'd rather see McGinn plugged into the lineup than Rosehill and Rinaldo together. They have no offensive ability as far as I can tell. Both in the lineup together seems redundant in a bad way...no offense. I guess the Flyers need some more offensive talent. Hopefully Laughton brings that next year.
- fnmjoe13

basically that is how I feel. Rather have Raffl in than McGinn but rather have McGinn in than Rosehill. I don't min Rinaldo at all. like his speed on the 4th line despite being a loose cannon sometimes.

A starter with a .900 SV% is a big issue unless it's the 1980s.

Brian Propp poked his head in to the radio broadcast booth last night. Bundy and Saunders started talking about his analyst days.

Saunders: "Brian Propp just informed me that if Montreal scores two goals, the game will be tied."

- MBFlyerfan

Funny thing about Propper is that he's a very good interview subject with a lot of good insights. But it never came through when he was an announcer.

The scout said, "He is good on the walls but he's not someone you want out there against other teams' best lines. He's got OK size and he's a game kid, but he's not really going to be a regular scorer up here. He's still a below-average skater. He'll battle for you, though, and he goes to the net. He fights a little bit, but that's not going to be his role. There are players like him in most organizations. Some of those guys find ways to stay up here but more of them don't. So that's what he's up against."

Heard this same bologna about countless players. Fact of the matter is: you never know until they actually get an extended look.

In my opinion? There are guys who skate worse than McGinn who have fulfilled similar roles in the NHL. To basically say this kid is a long shot to be a "jack of all trades" 3rd line player is a bit strange to me, considering that's exactly what it seems like he's built for based on the way he plays.

John LeClair? He was known as a big body who could chip in some goals and play a good 3rd line role in Montreal.

4 SECONDS.
Any man would get tossed from my life with a performance of 4 SECONDS.

And scored 50 goals multiple times.

Is that Tye McGinn? I'm gonna say probably not, but theres absolutely no way Rosehill should be playing any given night if Tye McGinn is healthy. Just my opinion.

I was working last night and missed VandeVeldes debut. How'd he look? Did he center the 4th line, or did Adam Hall?

I'm not saying he will be. The chances are probably 350:1 against it. Just saying, give the guy some time and see what you have. Probably a bottom-6 guy, but like you said, he probably offers more than Rosehill.

Vanderbeek was okay. Didn't notice him much. Centered the 4th the few times I noticed the line taking a draw.

For a few months now a few of us have discussed an Edler to Philly deal. What do flyer fans think of Edler for Vorecek and McGinn? Is that fair?

VdV played center with Hall on the right wing when they were together and both of them won 1 of 3 faceoffs. VdV only got 5:36 compared to 10:35 for Hall, but he looked composed and skated strongly.

McGinn's problem now is that his competition for a spot on the top two lines while Vinny is out is Raffl, and Raffl has started scoring goals as well as being a good skater who is responsible defensively and also kills penalties. And management clearly don't see McGinn as a 4th line option.

Oh I was agreeing with you mate! Your example of John Leclair was spot on. McGinn needs to actually have an extended NHL look before scouts go and say he's probably a career NHL-AHL tweener.

I like Rinaldo as well. Sometimes I wish he would remember that he can also get the puck after he hits the guy with the puck. Just don't like too many of those type of players eating up spots on the roster. I am sure it has been said here before but, when Chief rolls out Hall, Rinaldo, & Rosehill he is basically telling the other team that we will not even try to score a goal for the minutes they play.

They showed the GI Joe thing. I don't have a problem if it was for that, but I really don't get the impression that's why that chant was occurring. Either way, I'm not losing sleep over it. Personally, I'm saving any patriotic chants for the Olympics, I want to see US gold.
