Within the system, they can target players in FA, replacing Phaneuf minutes is not going to be hard, I think people over value his worth to the team.

Mark my words, within two years of signing you guys are going to be female doging and moaning about it when you see his play fall off the map.

- LeafMan

I dont think its smart to trade him away, and then hope and pray someone turns up in free agency.

Guys like Orpik (Who is getting old) will either re-sign with their team, or go to a contender.

Big minute munching Dmen who can play first pairing dont turn up in free agency too often.

Liles, Gardiner, Rielly can EASILY replace him. EASILY.

C'mon man, those deals hand cuffed the Leafs for years
the salary cap was implemented and the Leafs were over the cap.
they couldn't get any players and they had to give some up to go with cheaper people.

- bobbyisno1

Kaberles didn't. Not even a little bit.

They wanted to trade him to rebuild, but he still produced very well while he was here, and we was their3rd highest paid Dman after Komi was signed

I will say the same to you whenever you say Ranger cant be replaced or Dion isnt good.

Funny how it works. You're literally being an arm chair GM, but you turn around and use that? Come on..

If so, I'd stay there too. (frank)ing sweet.

Team played better whenever Sundin was injured.
How'd they do when he left for nothing?

- Feeling Glucky?

No... teams often give a better effort when their top players are out for short periods of time... Remember the times Sundin was out? We were world beaters... but look what happened when he was no longer on the team... Ottawa last year... the list of examples is endless... if you're using last night as proof that this team would be better without Dion, just quit watching hockey now...

...and the Leafs D outside of Gardiner didn't play better last night... the forwards were much better and came back to support for once...

Kaberle's cap hit was NEVER a problem... EVER... it was always considered a steal... you can complain about the NTC given out to the Muskoka 5 but Kaberle's $4.25 million was a steal from the day it was signed until he landed in Boston...
- SofaKingBored

it was all their cap hits, they were untradable and we were over the cap when it got implemented, Leafs sucked for years because of that

The D did not play well last night. The forwards played their best game of the year as far as forecheck and back check

No way Nonis let's Dion walk.

He will get his big money and term.

Like it or lump it, he is not going anywhere.

Gunner, Kulie and Liles need to go to WPG for Buff.

Dude, I have said so many times, I want to see Gardiner and Rielly play big minutes, I'm not Carlyle or Nonis, my opinion means squat who should play ahead of Ranger.

If that were true likes would never have been sent to the Marlies. And they wouldn't be sitting Rielly. Gardiner is already playing top minutes.
