People say once he gets over 23 minutes he gets tired, blah, blah blah, well most of the top minutes guys play more, etc.. Suter and they do just fine, Phaneuf gets lazy, plain and simple. - LeafMan
This is very true.
If the D corps is going to be built around him, well he needs to be able to go the distance once in a while |

To be fair, guys like Suter can make a pass when pressured, and as a result the shifts they play are not spent running around their own end and fighting battles down low.
I don't know how many times I have wanted to throw my television through the window when Dion circles back behind his net, gets caught by an opposing forward and then blindly throws the puck around the boards hoping Kessel will one day win a defensive battle for the puck at the hash marks. |

Cant wait for Toronto to sign Dion to an extension, and then get rid of Ranger. It'll be hilarious seeing all the crying |

Funny thing is, despite Kaberle being a thousand years older and out of his prime, he still managed to sign a 3 year deal for the exact same money... inflation say what? not even once...

ThTs the problem though. There is no replacement available, and if there was, it would be better to have them both - Big_Lightnin
Fine get both, but I only want Dion to play when he is pissed off. Should let Lupul shoot at him for a few practices. |

maybe if he had a partner with 2 functioning hips, and forwards that would mind their duty in the defensive zone, he wouldn't get tired out as fast? |

It still baffles me how people try and rip Phaneuf, but those same people will stick up for Ranger like there's no tomorrow. |

Corrected now, but I liked the use of McCabe as a verb.

Not crying, disappointment in the Leaf management, I don't think it is the way to go. As I said, he is most likely to resign, I think it is a mistake, my opinion. |

Regret after signing an Unrestricted Free Agent is a common feeling amongst NHL GM's... so your point means nothing... |

Just remember that the point of the NHL is to win the cup. Not the 1st overall.
Don't be the Oilers. |

the options all suck
pay him 7+ million or trade him for a mediocre return that will never be the value he brings.
in the off chance you could swindle a GM into getting a top 5 pick that in 5 years will be a top 6 or top pairing d ...then you win..eventually
unless people think that removing dion and adding nothing for the few seasons is a positive... then carry on

A one year 5th or 6th d-man at 1 mil comparing to a potential 5 plus year 7 mil d-men, think about it, let it sink in. |

But we're talking kabwrle, and they both made more than him, for the same or less production.
Jbo today is much better than Jbo from 6 yrs ago.
At the time, Jbo's career best season was almost as good as kaberles career average |
