So 1 year ago the Leafs had very close to the same record...and you've had much better goaltending this year. Hmmmmm! - whipper334
1 year ago Calgary still sucked. 1 year before that Calgary still sucked. interestingly, I predict 1 year later Calgary will suck. I also predict that in another year, Calgary will still suck |

i think gunnar should be sat
honestly.. this would be how i would pencil in the D with everyone available
phaneuf gardiner
liles rielly/gunnar
ranger franson
with phaneuf playing a stay at home style pairing him with gardiner isnt a bad move. gardiner also can draw guys to him with his skating opening up phaneuf and that big shot of his
liles with rielly would be in a mentior role.. liles with gunnar is just a pairing that would be all around effective.. also gets gunnar away from the primary assignments
ranger franson, pretty straightforward third pairing. same as last year but with ranger in frasers spot. - Dozzer
Who do you see as FA targets? I want Greene and Girardi.

I actually agree with this 100%. I might swap Liles with Franson but otherwise looks good. Forget Gimparsson. I do think they should try Gardiner with Phaneuf though. #51 has been leading the team in ice time lately. I think he can handle it.

whadya mean the ford focus cant go as fast as a porsche?
geez.. ford really dropping the ball there. - Dozzer
what makes it worse is people saying we prefer Ranger when we have said if someone does better or they have a replacement then by all means cut him loose.
Pretty sure if they thought Percy, Granberg or MacWilliams were ready, they be up here. |

I think all three would be an upgrade. All in all none make a huge difference so might as well let them develop. |

i dont know if i would give franson second pairing minutes.. he has looked over matched all year.. last year.. bottom pairing assignments and PP and he looked good.. this is where he needs to be i think. |

Thing is Bruce, Franson is the only one producing on the PP, if you lose that then we have to rely heavily on Rielly and Gardiner.
Having said that, 3 million plus for Franson and we might have another Gunnarsson situation. |

I don't see him doing anything. Gardiner is playing to good to be traded now. Kulemin is probably the only offense we would ship out, maybe MayRay. May be forced into moving Phaneuf or Franson. Besides me saying all that, are there really any trade partners out there for what we need? |

Yeah, I can buy into that too. Franny may need to be moved at the deadline though, as he will want top 4 money and so far isn't playing up to that. He looked decent last night though. Actually made Gunnarsson not look quite so terrible |
