I'm glad that he's probably not going. The WJC is overrated. What if he go ran from behind by some swede? I don't see how it would help his game at all. We need him playing for the Leafs because you know sooner or later someone will get hurt or struggle.

struggle wtf you talking about

If they are worried about Rielly's confidence, send him to the WJC and keep him in Juniors. He'll dominate and be able to work on different sides of his game against competition that won't burn him at every corner.

The next year, he can hop between AHL/NHL and develop those same aspects that need work, and strengthen some which have been good.

Liles/Ranger pairing seems to look really good. Ranger can't be paired with Rookies or highly volatile offensive players when he himself is trying to find his game. Ranger isn't that good, but he's getting better and maybe he'll pan out as a guy we've been missing for awhile. Can't hurt to see what he does with Liles, or even Phaneuf or Gunnerson.

okay... calm yourself

even on his very worst day... is Paul Ranger anywhere near as much of a doink as Komisarek was?

Ranger doesn't generally take stupid penalities trying to be Mr Tough Guy... and he can actually skate... doesn't turn the puck over up the middle of the ice every second shift. He's never going to be a top 4 guy on a strong team... but we are miles ahead with him than having Komisarek.

- BorjeFan4Ever

that's a good way to say it.

Nonis needs to take some of Carlyle's cards out his deck. Trade or waive one of McLaren or Orr when he gets back. Waive Fraser. I'd rather have a 4th line of D'Amigo-McClemment-Ashton/McLaren, and a 3rd pairing of Rielly-Ranger/Liles.

Ranger can't be moved, that's why I said Fraser.

- BetterCallSaul

I agree, either McLaren or Orr have to go. Leafs 4th line is getting burned. They need a speeedier engergetic 4th line. Broll can scrap plus he'd provide more energy on the 4th line than what they have now. Same with Devane & Aston. Leafs have so many options, why do they gotta play the meatheads Orr & McLaren all the time?

YUP, they annoinced 2 weeks ago that they would NOT be sending Reilly to the WJC. So it's like I wanna say to Nonis & RC, u aint gonna play the kid but no WJC? WTF?

When the Leafs brass says "Reilly won't be sent to the WJC" What else are we suppose to think?

Good we have 3 people on board with this caper. We need as many posters as possible. Coots for Bozak & Gardner, we'll even thrown in a 1st, Book it Danno
- GCHonda

We can probably get away with gardiner for couts/B.schenn or add a bit on that.

Leafs are looking for a center apparently according to fourth period, but it also depends on what teams will move their centers. Obviously the deal will surround teams that want a pucking moving defender or defense in general which will surround the deal around jake gardiner.

So guys like B.Schenn, Couturier, Lindholm from Carolina, Strome

Longshot: Stastny or O'Rielly or Skinner as those are big contracts and would have us sending salary back to balance

it doesn't matter who your partner is if you don't have a breakout, and Carlyle has the forwards playing in the wrong spots

from what we saw of Devane and Broll during the preseason... I'd say Devane looks like the better athlete and skater, Broll more complete hockey player. Either one brings more possibilities to the table than Orr and McLaren do individually. Given the Leafs depth in that department, would seem to make sense to deal Orr before the inevitable downturn, keep McLaren and play him with Smith or McClement and Devane (my choice)... .all round just a quicker group. That would give McClement less minutes... he'd be better rested for the penalty kill, which hopefully will return to a better form once Bozak is available again.

Ya - I said it... Leafs need Bozak.. and Bolland - although I'm liking the Holland kid.

general hint.. don't want to sound arrogant... but...

if you hear/read it from a major Toronto news source - such as:

The Toronto Star
The Toronto Sun
any toronto sports talk radio OR
anyone with a name that rhymes with Cocks, Hamburger or Timmins... its likely the brown stuff you don't need to taste to identify.

I think Gunnar is playing over his head at #2, but doing an admirable job as a fill-in.

He would be my ideal 3/4 if we had anyone else capable of playing second fiddle to Phaneuf.

I actually really like the idea of Phaneuf + Gardiner. Phaneuf takes way fewer risks these days and has actually emerged as a very reliable stay-at-home type. Let Gardiner play river hockey.

you called it correctly Mike... "Palaver"....

just like the contract noise nonsense before the Kessel signing... this one will also be a done deal...

they are probably just arguing over who will pay for the legal costs when Dion beats the poop out of one of the annoying media circus members.

45.5... 7 years.

I predicted before the season started that the CAP would go up by 10-12Million this coming summer. Nonis will be a very good position.... particularly because the big concerns over Franson won't be very big at all.

- BorjeFan4Ever

For a 6.5M cap hit I say give him 7-8 years.

On an 8 year deal we can front load it to the max and he would probably take it.

11M + 8M + (5.5M x 6) = 6.5M cap.

Unless someone is willing to overpay by a lot for a rental Top 2 defenseman we can't afford to trade him. So I say get creative like the above and sign him.

It sucks that it takes injuries and suspensions for people to value players in Toronto.

The grass is always greener elsewhere, right?

And it sucks that I have to agree with Glen Healy, but he said it best on HNIC last Saturday, "Bozak might not be a #1 center, but he gives you a #1 line."

Very, very well said.

People think trading Phaneuf is a step towards fixing the D, and that he can easily be replace AND upgraded.

Bozak is a good player, in the wrong role, yet somehow...it works. Bollands contribution is also sorely being missed. Don't have many, if any, guys who plays the way he does.

If were trading ORR i want him in the west but Holland is a good player. I hope he remains on the 3rd, he will be a good cheap player to have on the roster
