There definitely was. Whether justified, or not, there was. In fact, Clarkson took less to play here...as shocking as that might sound. - systemtool
Did the Leafs really need him??...Sorry i'm not seeing it as they where much tougher last year without him...What does he bring???

People were losing their minds when komarov allegedly wanted 2 mil.
Clarkson hasn't done much more than komarov was doing, and people are lining up to make excuses for him. - joel878
I'd take Komarov @ $3M over Clarkson.

I was saying it then, too. We have guys in the system who can replace him, but they're not ready now, and now is when we need one. - BetterCallSaul
And isn't it funny. Those people are no where to be found. I recognize some posters. but They undoubtedly have changed their tune now yet holding true to thinking that keeping komarov was their opinion all along as well

@5+ mil per isn't his role defined??...Score/help put puck in net..... - Fruitcakenipple
You would think so. Im just guessing here. But I do know Grabo female doged about not knowing his role when he left. But with Clarkson, it's different. He was brought here to score, for sure, but to also play and be physical. Being put on the 3rd line, and not much PP time, it's not exactly an offensive role or opportunity. Yet when he tries to play hard and tough, it results in penalties. Im just wondering aloud here. The guy could simply suck...who knows. |

I think they did. The lacked that physical guy in their top 6. The toughness last year was all Orr and Mac, guys you don't play or need come playoff time. They needed a guy who could play at both ends of the ice, and bring that physical element. |

Grabo was tough as nails, but he had no place on this team anymore. |

....you mean like putting blame on raymond for giving the puck to clarkson in the wheelhouse?
only to have him go the BACKHAND!? and try to shoot through a (frank)ing screen?

Ive been saying it from the beginning and people laughed at me. I said we are going to miss Komarov.... And here we are. - Cherry--Skoal
Been right there with ya, he makes a third line and can play against anyone in the league. |

Imo Nonis totally FK'ed up....He made too many changes to the top 6 and completely ignored the biggest issue as he did nothing to solidify the D..

I was going to ignore argument the first time.... but since you insist.... did you ever think that by the time Clarkson got the puck he was pretty much past the centre of the net... maybe he should have fired a slap shot into the corner so he shot if from his forehand....

IMO the biggest need is a number 1 center.
We are going to do poop without a number 1 center.
We are also not going to do poop without a solid D core.
basically we are not going to do poop |

Fair enough, but Grabo played a diff position than the guy they got. As for Komarov, im not sure his ceiling was as high as Clarksons was at the time. Im not Nonis, so I can't tell you what he was thinking. |

I said it to.. And took a chomping.
It's amazing how many people on here have jumped off the clarkson train to, considering how lit up anyone who opposed it in the summer was. |

...yeah no players ever in the history of the nhl has ever made a play from the spot he was on the ice. Yeah, he was screwed no matter what?
