Because it was believed Bouchard would be picked up by someone. Regin would clear with no problem. I wouldn't doubt if PMB is called back up and Regin is PUT down.

i think PMB has to be down in the bridge for a certain period of time before he can be callled back...i also dont think the reason you suggested is in fact the reason why PMB was waived.

well, I suppose that's reasonable to assume. I thought he'd get plucked by someone, though it was telling when they said he had been unable to get any takers for a deal. Bags of pucks are pricey these days

Here's my issue......snow thought getting Tavares a top tier winger (vanek) was a priority, yet he signed Bouchard in the offseason. Clearly he brought in Bouchard to play with Tavares. That lasted for three games and now he's stuck with a western conference winger with concussion history, who can't and won't play physical. There was absolutely no need to sign this guy.....and it screams panic. Going into this season without replacing streit is unacceptable and reason enough to fire Garth. I do not believe there were no deals to be made to acquire a top dman.

Not if Cappy will have a say. He'll have him on 4th line wing and if he lucky he gets Boulton type mins.

Actually - It hink he replace Grabner on wing. (that what cappy will do)

I hope people think Poulin willl be able to do that every night. we got dominated for most of the game.

Poulin was flip flopping, it just turns out the puck hit him alot.

We need a better effort tomorrow if we going to beat Phoenix> they are going to be looking for redemption after the 6-1 spanking we gave them when we were decent at beginning of year.

1) speculation..especially since getting tavares a top tier winger happened later.
2) streit sucks
3) speculation...no valid reason to believe this

To be honest, I've seen enough of Bailey in scoring roles at this point. He's proven himself to be nothing more than a two way forward so that's the role I want him in now.

I also favor starting Strome off at RW to get him acclimated to NHL speed. Less thinking involved.

I also want some physicality out there with him as a means of protection though. Unfortunately we don't have anyone on this team who can do both.

So.....I'd go
Vanek Tavares Strome
Grabner Nielsen Okposo
Nelson Bailey Clutterbuck (yes, I'm moving Bailey back to center)
Martin Cizikas McDonald

I liked the chemistry Grabs, Nielsen and KO showed a couple of years ago together. In addition, Tavares and Strome have worked out together in the offseason so there's a certain amount of familiarity not to mention a decent way for Strome to play with two guys that will take the pressure off him.

Bailey goes back to his natural position but in a two way role rather than scoring role when he first entered the league. He'd have gritty wingers capable of getting in the dirty areas for his passes.

Frankly I can come up with several different combos that I'd feel okay with, but I've had it with Josh in a top six role at this point.

- keaner17

A big Amen to that. One of the many mind boggling things that Capuano does/doesn't do is putting that line back together.

Hmmmmm...so then why move PMB, a winger, down rather than Regin, a center with a two way contract?
- keaner17

In the hopes that someone would pick up his 2 million dollar salary like islandersince6 said the other day(even though I was thinking it I have to give props, he said it bfr I did).

This seems to be the word of the day. I can't wait to shoot down peoples posts with these very words. More to come... BTW, agree with number two

I know people don't want to believe this but it's within the realm of possibility that it could happen.

Edit; maybe not to that degree but it's within the realm of possibility it may not be that far off?

Brian (Long Island)

It's clear that the Islanders, owned by Wang and run by Snow, have no interest in winning nor will anyone be held accountable for repeated failures within the organization. Is a sale of the team the only way out for Islanders fans?
Katie Strang (3:36 PM)

Honestly? Yes, I think so. It's easy to call for Capuano's head or pile onto the players but ultimately, the problems begin at the top and the onus falls on Charles Wang. He's never shown the true commitment to providing the team with the necessary funds and supports necessary to build a franchise in the right way. Snow isn't off the hook, either, for he has mismanaged his fair share and committed some costly gaffes, but he is handcuffed by Wang to a certain degree. I truly believe it will be continue to be Groundhogs Day for this team until ownership switches hands.

Wow! Good to hear Strang tell it like it is. Who was it that was saying we just "think" writers, commentators, etc don't dare say anything bad about the islanders when they are covering the team? Funny? I never heard Strang say anything remotely close to this or anything other than the fluff BS we hear from her counterparts. There I go speculating again.

There wasn't really much else that we don't already know. That was the big "bombshell", if you can call it that.

There was this...

Shawn (Garfield, NJ)

What is taking the Islanders so long to do the obvious in firing coach Jack Capuano?
Katie Strang (3:48 PM)

I don't think Garth Snow believes Jack Capuano to be the problem, and to a large degree he's right. Do I think that a coach with more cache and experience could have a positive impact on the Islanders? Absolutely, but again the problems are far-reaching and won't be corrected with any sort of quick-fix move. Now, that said, just because Snow doesn't feel him to be the problem, doesn't mean he won't ultimately become a casualty anyway. Lots of times the coach plays the role of scapegoat, and if things continue this way, Capuano might too. There is also the money issue, which I've raised in this space before. A lot of the Islanders problems come down to them being cheap. Fire Capauno and you have to pay someone else. Wanna go after a big fish like Laviolette? Be prepared to pay up. Not convinced the Isles are prepared and/or willing to do that.

And one about tempering expectations of Strome. Which is what everyone should be doing. Anyone who thinks he's gonna step in and start producing regularly is nuts.

It's pretty facking awesome that these clowns are getting called out finally. It's a god damn disgrace what these guys are doing. A lot of people like trying to paint a brighter picture of this BS and make excuses but the truth is these guys suck at their jobs and Wang is a facking lunatic. Let me tell you something. All of this negative crap that people speculate about on here is true to a certain degree and probably for the most part in some instances completely true. Open your facking eyes for Christ sake

Agree about next expecting too much. I'm excited to see him play and if he comes out strong great but like I said before they called him up I would've rather he stayed down there and continued to tear it up and not be exposed to this mess just yet. If Capuano is going to be here til the end of the season than wait till next year. What's the difference. Let him really get accustomed in the AHL and really strengthen his game and himself. More importantly keep him away from Capuano.
