one thing for sure, the Flyers need less stupidity in the lineup.

Whether it's Hartnell's idiotic cross check tonight, or Rinaldo's dumbness from the other night ... or just the ridiculousness of having Rosebud in the lineup ... we need less stupid and more skill.

Doesn't seem that complicated.

Guess what? We get to play the surging Habs tomorrow. Sounds like great fun.

The Flyers played their best game of the season tonight. A full 60 minute effort. Unfortunately the Hawks are just that much better.
- Potash4prez

the Flyers haven't played 60 minutes since the late '80's.

i have little faith holmgren can turn this around. he had a nice run.
- hammarby31

true. maybe it would definitely be best to just get a fresh perspective. see what hextall can do. it would certainly be a desirable job. its not like the cupboards are bare by any means. a lot of decent youth, and some money coming off the books.

granted, the streit and hartnell contracts definitely suck.

So i recorded this and saw it later because i was afraid an ass kicking would take place and sure enough, after the 3rd goal it was just FF time cuz i knew where this was headed.

Honestly the only positive about games like this are coming to this place and reading the comments.

Pure comedic gold

Screw that..the bigger issue to me was him putting Hartnell on the ice..

The biggest dumb on this team is Holmgren thinking a team without a legit 1 or 2 dman and 20 similar grit players with a little skill that if they get lucky might score some goals ...was a good plan.

Exactly ...gotta play a full 60 minutes...something this team struggles to do...but this game isn't anyone's fault ...this team just can't compete with a team like Chicago end of story.

And a lesser effort beat the Pens last time the teams played, so there's that.

It ain't good. It's time for a move or two or to bring up Gus, Lauridsen, Alt, etc. for some games to see how they do. Even if the Flyers happen to squeak into the playoffs, they're going to get destroyed the way this team plays, especially with an MIA first line.

I can't tell who is worse at the point on the powerplay, Jake or Streit. Other teams must think they are Jolly St Nick with all the giveaways.

I've gotta wonder what it might take to get Cammalleri out of Calgary? Expiring contract, not likely to re-sign with the Flames. We need a Dman first and foremost but Hartnell needs to get the hell off the top line for someone that can actually do something.

At the end of the day, the pieces arent simply good enough. I do not believe coaching, systems, that "tough guy" approach, or yelling at them will do anything in the grand scheme of things. I did not believe that when there was talking of firing Lava. As well, those pointless player meetings with Snider meant to scare them.

The pieces are what they are, and they are not good enough.

The plan to me, still stands. Let the crew play it out, sell at the deadline, and choose who to build around. This is more than just some mirage of 30 or so games this season.

Things have been masked with great goaltending, the truth is being exposed.

Through bad management, we are where we are today. Kind of sad to see such a fall, and the circus over the last few years.

He is a 2nd tier guy I wouldn't mind going after in FA.

Don't really want to give up assets for him, they have to realise what they have put together is garbage.

The issue though being, while he may be a decent fit for the 2nd line on this team, I think it would be foolish to expect more.

This team lacks elite talent, first and foremost. That unfortunately was lost with Richards, Carter, decline of Timonen, injury of Pronger and aging/trade of Briere.

It has not been replaced. I have long said this organization is too focused on the "win now". It bit them in the ass, and they cant use FA to buy their way out. If they try, they are morons to continue this culture.

If he makes it to free agency, I'd expect the Flyers to go after him

If he hits FA, it will be very much like the current culture to give him a massive deal.

The rest of the league will get something else to laugh at. I'd stay away from Neon Dion. Overpaying for the wrong players, has gone on for too long.

That cap increase is burning a hole in Homer's pocket as we speak.
