If there is a deal to be made, that won't rip apart whatever good pieces they have left, then by all means.
But I don't want to see this team go all out this season. There's nobody, that won't cost this team a ton, that can be had during the year.
Just leave it alone and hope they collapse. Oops, did I say that out loud? - MidnightMarauder
Trading for Kane would be a future, change of direction type deal. Trading for Fleishmann or Cammy would be a lets try to make the playoffs for a couple of gates type deal. |

McDonagh has become untouchable, especially with Staal's situation. |

I don't think a Kane for Stepan deal is that far fetched. Kane is a year younger, but has played forty or so more games in the league. There numbers are comparable and the Jets badly need a center. Not to mention, Kane hasn't been the easiest player to deal with there. It would be a solid, dependable center with good all around skills in all aspects if the game, for a less well rounded, but more explosive player with a higher ceiling.
The proposed deal of Stepan, MDZ and Miller for Kane, IMO, is over valueing Kane. - Pete V
maybe i overvalue kane but i see kane on the level of guys like bobby ryan right now and in the future could be a guy close to perry (probably not as good but close). basically, right now stepan and kane are pretty equal but kane's ceiling is MUCH higher and he's a much more dynamic player offensively. |

I agree with that. Much higher ceiling, but also comes with some issues. But, I'm all for a player with an edge. Too many choir boys already. |

i'm not sure he has as many issues as people make him out to have. i remember him getting into trouble for posting a picture in vegas with money in his hand...but so what?
and i remember him getting heat in the media for saying he's sick and tired of losing and how the rest of his teammates seem okay with it...and i love that. he has a passion and desire to win and feels that losing is unacceptable. sign me up for any player with that attitude!
maybe a lot of this "attitude" stuff is in regards to him just being unhappy in winnipeg for whatever reason, but i don't think he's a lockerroom cancer kind of guy or an immature alcoholic that bingedrinks before game nights. who knows though. |

I kind of agree with that as well. I don't think anything I've heard is that bad. He may just not be happy there. |

Tim Sassone @TimSassone 13m
Predicted by @TSNBobMcKenzie on NBCSN that Toews and Kane will look to double their cap hits in 2 years. That's $12 million each.
maybe we wait until next summer and go after whichever one chicago can't re-sign |

I see them going for Cammalieri, which I don't mind, because it won't cost them much in terms of future.

Right now, if the cap never went up from 71 million, the Hawks have 30 million to work with. They can sign both for a combined 24 million and still have 6 million work with. |

yes, but leddy is gonna get a 4.5+ mil contract that year, saad probably 3+ mil, and then they still need to sign 2 more defenseman, 5 other forwards, and a backup goalie. |

No way both got 12 million, especially not Toews. He's too smart to cripple the Hawks with that kind of cap hit. He'll sign for like 8 or 9. |

Kane needs $12 million to cover his annual bar tab. So then he can stop drinking Natty Light in a can at college frat parties. Gotta love a guy that enjoys himself. |

you never know. money talks -- period. toews would be a nice guy for taking a large discount to sign around 8 or 9 when he could get 12 a year on the open market....but an idiot too. perry and getzlaf signing for almost 9...malkin almost 10...kessel 8...within a few years, i can see the top tier talent asking for 12 a year easy. |

this is ludicrous, $12 mil!?
bowman will make these contract extensions priority number 1 this summer and before the cap goes up again. just like he did Crawford and hjalmarssons contracts by season start
kane and toews aren't going from 6.3 to $12 mil in 6 months
i expect long term deals at 9.5 per each, they both also have the same agent, not to mention they already saw what happened first hand with cap problems messing up a championship roster |

Then like you said, they have no depth. So sign them for 12. |

I think you guys need to take a step back and relax a little bit. I can most definatly see your guys frustration with the team. If I were a rags fan, and looking at that roster, it would be driving me nuts. Def a lot more results should be coming from the team with that kind of talent. BUT, it's too early in the season to be asking to blow everything up. Don't get ahead of yourselves. As much as it will hurt to see them climb the standings...I think they eventually find their groove. I agree with most of you tho... there is that identity or something that is missing from the team. just can't seem to put my finger on it.but this is coming from an isles fan, and you all know I've been put through hell and back, so you know what I'm saying comes from the heart. Give it time before you start asking to ship off players for the sake of it. |
