its so obvious now. this team is like a computer with a massive virus. there are so many components effected that there is no other option but to buy a new computer. obviously we should keep core components like Hank(firewall software), Mac(anti-virus detection) and the processor(Nash), but most of the old system is garbage.

Aside from the three you mentioned, there are maybe two or three other pieces that are worth keeping. The rest can hit the bricks.

The Rangers will not blow it up and start over they will not trade off veterans to try and get younger. The people who run MSG are happy with a team that can make it to the playoffs and maybe win a. Round or two. Winning a cup would just be gravy for them.

The only way they would consider a rebuild is if people stopped gong to the games.

I believe that Dolan does not care if they win or lose. He is a money hungry right winger who could care less about the quality of the product, only how much profit he can earn. However, I believe that although Sather may be incompetent, he wants to win. His mentality is outdated and he should no longer have a job, but Dolan does not really care what Sather does, so he stays. It just so happens that Sather's old fashioned approach and Dolans apathy are a perfect match. I believe that sather will still make big changes before he inevitably retires from his poor health though. He does indeed have a legacy on the line.

This team does not have enough offense to play run and gun and they're not tough/physical enough to play a Bruins type game. They're stuck in the middle. Sather has continually sh!t the bed on acquiring team toughness and it's once again rearing it's ugly head with this team.

You're not gonna see the Rangers give up on the year and sell off with the East so crappy and Dolan lookin to make some MSG transformation $ back and the Knicks somehow looking worse than the Rangers. Right now, the Rangers are his best shot so he'll be looking to add. They need a scorer, Cammalleri? They need toughness Glencross/Ott? And at what cost.

I usually am not a guy who wants to make a move to make a move but this team is so listless right now, they need to do something and fast.

Coach V must be in Deja Vu land right now.....this is almost the exact predicament the Nucks have been in for the last few years.....you have a team that can't find an identity. Finding the right mix of skill, tenacity, leadership, ambition, energy, reputation, etc?....This defines "identity".....I'm definetly unqualified to offer a solution.....but Torts has so much personality that I'm thankful we traded coaches. I appreciated Vigneault's contribution but I have a feeling he is better suited to working within an established identity.....Torts is DEMANDING an identity....and I think that is exactly what the Nucks need.....and what NYR is missing right now. This should be very interesting to see how this experiment plays out.

yeah, deja vu. you know except for the scoring part...

good point about torts. he demands identity and he gets results wherever he goes. like him or hate him, he is who he is and always leaves behind something positive to be remembered. he won cup in tampa, and then went on to make the rangers a team to be taken seriously for the first time in ages. now he is making a strong impact in Van. The guy always delivers results. I hope the experiment works out for the Rangers, but I can't help but think that Laviolette would be a better fit for the organization.

Yeah....Torts has a better pedigree than V.....it seemed he had worn out his welcome in NY so I don't criticize the move. I think coach V was a logical coaching choice for NYR as well. He knows how to win games....in the regular season anyway. PO's require a different energy and intensity.....if we make it to the dance I can't wait to see what Torts can bring.... Should be interesting to see what V brings to NYR too.

whats interesting is that AV is calling out the team more than torts ever did. Its quite clear he thinks the rangers suck and need big changes.

This franchise is a Bettman Beauty. Rape the wealth from well healed fans and owners, redistribute it other, less fortunate franchises, after taking an obscene cut yourself and keep hope alive by finishing near .500. He calls that "parity" or "social justice". If we keep up the good work he may even slip us a back room lottery ball or two in a few years. Meanwhile, the Governor elites party at Pebble Beach, on your dime. Bring on the "Stadium Series" events. Gary and the Governors need more cash!

I got the idea that the Rangers and Flyers are in the same situation. Just a bubble candidate for the playoffs, just got a new coach and are struggling mightily.

Too bad.

Alex Ovechkin scored four goals last night.

He now has 26 goals in 29 games.

Man the Rangers could use some of that.

You have a players only meeting and you still look uninspired! So what is it then. The coach? The style of play? At some point the players need to step up or step on (to another team)! Somebody has to fire up this team. Time to make things real uncomfortable, maybe start taking the team bus, maybe bring up the kids who want to play hard every shift!

I don't think I want any part of any trades to try and attempt to salvage something from this season.

This has all the makings of a team going downhill real fast.

They have no business trading any 2014 draft picks or any prospects for the Steve Ott's, Matt Moulson's, Scott Upshall or Thomas Fleischmann's of the world.

But, with Cally now out up to 6 weeks, the Knicks completely horrendous, I think the Garden will want something out of this Ranger season, and a trade with the NOW in mind is probably going to happen.

This is a mess.

Torts daughter is right. If my dad was fired from a company and the company went downhill, I'd be much more obnoxious than she was in her tweet.

in all fairness, injuries are your biggest issue, your lineup has been missing key pieces here & there.

you guys don't have our problems, where our players are just skating in sand & shooting with 8 fingers

there is a country club atmosphere here. The players successfully got the coach fired last spring in their post season player interviews and now it's lounge chair by the pool drinking a pina colada time.

That's strage, this team had a workman like image, defense first, block every shot, key goals from 4th line players, (still love how Rupp, of all players gets 2 & downs us at the winter classic), to a pampered image?

I never thought I would see the day fans were apprehensive about signing Girardi & Callahan, in a matter of 2 seasons.

no two players owe their success to Torts as much as those two guys. Especially Girardi, who is essentially a Torts creation

Guess you can't switch from a defensive coach to an offensive coach so easily, without personnel changes, or at least guys better understanding their roles.
Hank is going to get tons of criticism for his numbers going south after the big contract, when in all actuality the team defensive concept helped his numbers.

At least your GM, for all the flack he takes, doesn't hand out 5 year contracts to other teams fading players off the trash day curb, we already used our 2 CBO'S and need 2-3 more, I shudder to think what move he makes next, albeit we do need changes, just smarter ones.
