He can't sign for 8yrs, he was drafted by Calgary. 7yrs max for Dion

Dion as a depth signing in LA would be incredible - taking the pressure off of him to be the number one would let him be the great player that he can be. I don't know if LA can put a package together for him though; I doubt they would give up Muzzin...

Dion reminds me more of a guy like JBo or Regher. really solid player but one who is out of his element as the #1 option.

That's funny, I could have sworn Kessel just signed an 8 year deal and was drafted by the Bruins.

it all comes down to money
if he wants a 8 year 8 mil deal move him for the long term benefit

if he signs close to what hes making now sign him

thats not how it works

if you resign with your current team you can get 8 years

if you sign with a new team you can only get 7.. has nothing to do with who drafted you

True and finishing last place doesn't necessarily equal results.

I think he could co-manage the number one slot if he had another guy to lean on.

Sort of like Petragelo and JBo and Markov-Subban.

well he'd be the JBo in that scenario, not the Pietrangelo, which is kind of what i meant.

I agree with that. Though I think Dion is better than JBo.

I can't believe that Subban is on the bubble and JBo has a job to lose.

i think TC just likes the idea of an intact pairing where they don't have to worry about chemistry, kinda like Seabrook-Keith in 2010.

Hard to imagine the Leafs trading him right now.

Lets see. Only teams that would want a soon to be UFA are in the playoff hunt. The courting teams would then want to keep their current roster players and only trade picks and/or prospects. That doesn't seem all that logical that the Leafs would get a Franchise D in return so how does that help them?

He is staying at least this season.

All the more reason that Dion will go to LA... he's the perfect age for a Willie Mitchel replacement, the cap is going up so there is plenty of money for him, less pressure than TO; we're only missing the right package.
