Chris Kuc on Twitter is saying the same.

On the bright side I picked up Raanta in my office pool. He's been on my bench but I may play him next week.

What a great opportunity for the rest of the the team to do things like, re-learn how to back check and find an answer to the dismal PK scheme.

According to The Score (Canadian version), Crawford is out 2-3 weeks.
- DarthKane

If so, that is the best case scenarios for a groin pull. Can't rush back and once he can play he must be able to practice all out for a few days.

Eh... Living on the West Coast I attend a lot of Hawks games out here & that kind of stuff is everywhere.. PHX fans are by far the most ignorant among the various places I've been to.. LA is a close second. Love going to games in ANA though because it is MILF CENTRAL and the fans are very nice.

I'm not too worried. I still think that 2-3 weeks isn't long enough to make a move for another goalie.

Was at the Bismark Hotel for the press conference announcing his signing, and had a lengthy draft conderence with Pulford.

Terry and his Ms Dallas wife kept the thing from starting on time by a long time, as they were upstairs but late.

Nice guy, eh?

I was once at a Wolves Aeros game and freind wo played for the Aeroes had me escorted to the visitor dressing room area to "pick him up" and coach ruskowski was out of his mind crazy angry at his teams losing efforts against the Wolves, so much so I didn't need to get close to the open door to hear him.

When my friend came out, he said, "Yeah, his usual reaction when we play badly."

Can only judge by my OWN experience with him.

What?

They lost theri DT early and all of the rest is futile patchwork.

- wiz1901

Exactly. This group of patchwork sucks. My suggestion is to find others who may surprise. What can happen? They give up 200 yards on the ground? Oh wait, they already do.

My bet is we won't see Crawford before Ukrainian Christmas has come and gone.

Dipietro? Huet? I would rather they sign marsh mellow head who visits this board. After all, he had a stellar sock hockey career and knows every thing about goal tending.

Two weeks until the Christmas break. There are 7 games until then - two sets of back-to-backs. The third week has games with COL, STL, and LA - 3 games in 4 nights. I have read previously that Raanta is a fitness nut, so maybe he'll be able to play all these games, at least physically.

Maybe ...That's a little more than 3 weeks.

Bigger question is whether Khabibulin will be celebrating the holiday in the Ukraine??

I hope this is true, and would deem this good news. Considering what the injury could be, 2-3 weeks isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

If CC were hurt worse than this, would we really be made aware of it? To put a reasonable window for optics sake alone makes sense. That is, not adding to pressure for Ranta and Simpson. Ranta can think of this as just a few weeks, instead of putting more weight on his own shoulders.

If you came out with any news more than 2 or 3 weeks out, then you do yourself no favors in trying to find a reasonable trade partner, if that is a route you would need to go.

Bickell was 2 to 3 weeks announced by the team like 4 + weeks ago right?

My take is this is the smart conservative way to play it. That is see if you can handle the workload in house. Catch lightning in a bottle or the least tread water for a few weeks before you make a move.

Best case is the team continues on playing well and you actually are able to give Corey an extra week or two when he is healthy.

Otherwise, I am with Al regarding a Joey McDonald for 4 or 5 starts.

Well if the oft vaunted "team defense" would ever get back to form, in theory it shouldn't matter who the goalie is right?

Or...is C2 really going to be missed after all....

We've been told this by many on this board for the past several years - "anybody can win with that team in front of them", that sort of thing. So, we shouldn't be at all nervous about Crow being hurt, right?

Hope he delivers

Yeah, it's pretty ironic that so many are so up-in-arms about C2's groin when some were saying you could put a monkey in net with this team D and still win more often than not.

Ultimately, I think there will be a re-dedication and re-focusing of the team on their defensive assignments and we will see a bit less goal production and much tighter defensive posture from not just the D but forwards in particular. Will likely also be a focus on not taking any penalties that would add much more pressure on the team and Raanta.

There is a mental aspect of fatigue as well, which is something not typically working to a younger player's advantage They need to be careful not to set him up to fail.

Hawks are fixin' to focus on Rousell again... How about focusing on outscoring the Stars?
