John Wideman said tonight that Bollig and Roussell danced while both played in the AHL. Roussel wants no part but obviously tangles with others.

For the record both Sharp & Versteeg can throw but how successful has Bickel been in fighting career AHL and NHL?

- jhawk59

Morin will throw them too. Loved how he went right after him.

Bollig vs Rousel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02uHl0IGCU4

Rousell hung on like a coward. No wonder he wouldn't go with Bollig after watching that one.

Rousell will fight but picks his spots and looks for a quick jump like we saw with Seabrook last year. Really wish we could have seen Bollig catch him away from the officials in the 3rd.... Even the other Dallas players were basically shaking their heads on the bench at his antics. He is going to hurt someone eventually - tonight the slew foot and the elbows.

Nice FIND

Love seeing that GOOF get mopped by BB.

Roussel's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch and guys like that will GET IT....you can COUNT ON IT. Might not be vs us since Q is content to let it be, but hopefully we are the ones that FEED that TWAT a good bushel of teeth busting fists. And agree with Elbows, it was nice to see Morin intervene at the end...great job REP'N 11.

Was out and just caught the game on video and had to endure the Stars feed. Normally those guys are alright, but tonight, they couldn't accept that Kostka's goal was a goal until the ref said so. All the replays showing it was over the line and these homers are still trying convince themselves it wasn't in.

Got to admit though...the color guy had a unique line early on when he said Lehtonen made "2 Mastodonic saves." Of course that's before he got HOOKED. Also, interesting to see Curt Fraser as an assistant to Lindy Ruff.

Excellent all round effort. Kostka's early tally. A big hit on Eakin by Shaw'zer and Zeus laying out to block on shot on early pk all helping to set a good tone.
Kuc tweeted that 5 Hawks player had 3 blocks. COMMITMENT TO TEAM DEFENSE was superb.

Lot of funny goals going in for us....and who would have thought the Hawks would be the top scoring team on goals per game average ? At least that's what Stars' feed graphic suggested. The balance on the club is great and will only get better with Bicks coming back soon and maybe a nice addition at the deadline.

Raanta was solid again and just gotta love his overall demeanor. Remember what the last Finn with ice in his veins did for us

Eddie has been listening to me. Go after their skill guys. Why was Benn even able to finish that game. Once up by 5, go after him.
- powerenforcer

And I guess it hasn't occurred to you that teams can also target The Hawks skill guys so they don't finish the game? Benn can and will go toe to toe with anyone in the league, Toews might but that isn't his game and he may not fare too well, Hossa can't fight, Kane can't fight, Keith may be willing but he can't fight. The Hawks did what they do, they played through the BS, kept an eye on the numbskull Roussell and won the game.

After several games of putting up with that $hithead, with the Hawks up by 5 late, there's no reason that Roussel shouldn't have left the ice on a backboard. Pussies.
- Ogilthorpe2

Come on Ogi - we don't really want that. Maybe an inadvertant strategically placed slash on an ankle will do the job just fine or a nasty cross check in the back when he sets up in front of the net. Then it would be part of the game and maybe only penalized for 2mins.
Rousel must be dealt with before he hurts with one of the Hawks skillplayers. I would not even mind a 2min instigator in the 3rd period with the Hawks up by 5 goals. Just don't do it in the last 5mins of the game.

THIS.

The second the Hawks target another team's skill guys they might as well declare open season on Kane, etc.

The Hawks gave the Stars the old Red Wings treatment last night - keep the puck most of the night and let them chase it to the point of extreme frustration. By the look on Lindy Ruff's face I think he knew what was coming after his team escaped with a win in the UC last week and #21 made a spectacle of himself.

Great teams rise above the cheap shots and borderline hit crap and punish the perpetrators on the scoreboard and say nothing in public. And that's because they know somebody in the NHL will eventually punish Antoine Roussel big time. In fact, the Dallas Stars know somebody will eventually punish Roussel, they just don't know what date or game it will be.

Totally agree and I also think in my experience guys that play like Roussel hurt his own teams enthusiasm since skilled players are embarrassed by his antics

Totally agree !! If there was ever a time to stop this idiot from running at Kane and others, it was with the 5 goal lead. Bollig should have run him into a corner he couldn't escape from and just drop em. The extra minutes would have stopped this moron in the future against us. If he hurts one of our guys in the future, we will remember what should have happened at this 6-2 game !!!

Still don't know why anybody thinks that doing what you suggest would somehow convince a Roussel to stop hitting Blackhawk skill players.

They won't ever stop unless the league and his coaches tell him to stop.

It won't. The sad thing is the kid can play as much as he irritates the piss out of me. He could be just as effective as a player within the rules.

Lindy Ruff loves Roussel, thats why he gets the ice time vs the Hawks he does. He won't tell him to stop.

Blatant, obvious retaliation against a guy like Roussel isn't the way to go.
Patrick Sharp is probably the best Hawk at doing some very innocuous things on the ice - with his stick. In the finals against the Bruins, he shut Brad Marchand up for the rest of the series with an undetected spear to the area that really hurts a man. Marchand sang soprano for quite awhile and was no factor in the series after that.

I'm not a Roussell fan at all but I have seen him go with lots of guys. He went toe to toe with Seabrook and more than held his own. He had the upper hand early with Shaw untill Shaw's other motor kicked in. Give credit where it's due, Roussell may be a knob, but unlike a guy like Kaletta, he has shown he will answer the call.

He picks his spots a bit Paul. He definitely isn't like Kaleta though. FWIW, Sharp is actually a better fighter than both Seabs and Shaw.

Ruff would tell him to stop IF (a) the refs would call penalties (like the 2nd hit on Kane 2 games ago), (b) the league would suspend players for bad hits, and (c) no replacement on the skating roster for suspended players. That would hurt the team and the coach.

Owners would tell coaches to get players to stop if the teams were fined the same amount that suspended and/or fined players lost, thru fines or lost pay.

Suspending a player like Thornton or Roussel (as much as Ruff may like him) doesn't hurt a team very much: replaceable player. Need to somehow also punish teams, coaches, and ownership.

i think it is a 5min major in the last 5 mins of a game or maybe a combo with a 2min instigator, then you get suspended for the next game. So you see lots of roughing calls near the end of the game. total bs.
i remember one instance in the playoffs, bieksa instigating a fight with Stahlberg - game 6 of the 2011 playoffs. They call it roughing. Bad luck for the Hawks there.

Isnt that why he is on the team? I mean i know he does a little more than JUST fighting, but thats what got him a spot on the team and i think he needs to get back to that. Otherwise hes just a random bigger guy on the 4th line with a hard shot that cant score from close range haha. I still like him but its annoying to see him not lighting guys up either with his fists or with major body checks.

Hawks have five goalies under contract. Two of them(#1 &
- Beaver-Warrior#2) are now on the shelf. #3 & #4 are now with the big club and #5 is in Rockford. The Hawks need a warm body down in Rockford IMO.

and that is exactly about wat you will get…a body.
