Good protection of Raanta. Another cheap shot by Douchell

while I agree to a small degree, they do that and then they have a PO'd Marshall on their hands.
- Glenman12

As long as he gets the ball, he will be happy. McCown spreads the ball around way better than Cutler.

I don't know what it is specifically, but McCown reminds me a lot of Rich Gannon.

Careful there - McCown stats are inflated by his competition: the best defense he faced ranked 14th in the league.
- StLBravesFan

The offense is much better with him. Cutler forces the ball to Marshall too much. He got lucky yesterday but Cutler throws the ball to the other team too much. Also, McCown gets rid of the ball quicker.

Talent for talent, there is no comparison. This offense seems perfectly suited for McCown. Gannon won a Super Bowl, didn't he?

Unbelievable - hit from behind and into the boards. Bollig should pot a few and then start cheap shotting this guy with borderline hits. I doubt he will fight Bollig and i don't want Smith or Shaw fighting him. Don't mess up the game plan just yet until you get a 4 or 5 goal lead.

And what is up with the 5vs3 pp, it is all about coaching. That line up is not going to get it done. 2 games in a row now.

I get where you are coming from Glen. At the end of the day, Chicago has been very good for Marshall's image. Not to mention how well he is paid. Also think he has a lot of respect for Trestman.

This guy is drawing a lot of attention to himself. It won't be the Hawks that get him, but somebody in this league will and it won't be pretty. I'm thinking a guy like Andrew Ladd deals with that little pr$ck.

But then again, he plays like Bambi when the Stars meet up with the Kings or Blues or Ducks.

I agree with Elbows that this wouldn't be wise unless we get an insurmountable lead.

Too much talent on that. They stands around too much. I would rather swap out Hossa and Keith. Put Leddy and Saad/Shaw out there. IMO opinion, if anyone cares lol, they are too many players on the same plane. They need movement and someone to get their ass either in front of the net or the high slot. One thing I have notice that is slightly better is they are a bit more spread out than previously.

I've been holed up studying for finals for the last week. I guess I've got some "red ass" tendencies because of it.

Nope...lost to Tampa in 2003...

I wouldn't make the comparison talent-wise, but career-wise both were in the league largely as career backups, and then the right offense made Gannon very good.

McCown makes pretty smart decisions, knows his limits, and spreads out the ball.

I've not been anti-Cutler in his time as a Bear, the guy's is very talented and has a cannon of an arm, but his indecisiveness causes a lot of turnovers, and forcing the ball to Marshall is predictable.

I'm wondering whether he goes ahead and asks for a lot of dough next year. If so, the Bears should look at their options in the draft and free agency. McCown would certainly be a cheap stopgap option.

The Bears benefit from a lot of expiring contracts for older players, and Emery and Trestman can use next offseason to tailor the team to their wants and needs. And hopefully that will mean no more phucking Cover 2...
