Can't use the giveaway excuse because others are much worse than he is, can't give the not hitting excuse because he actually hits to get the puck back, can't be for skating when others are much slower. Can't be for not clearing the zone when others are so much worse at it.

It is hate plain and simple because they can't come up with any plausible reason for a 5th - 6th d-man making a million bucks.

He seems a step behind in all aspects of the game. I don't have any fancy stats, its just my observation, and for the record I want to like him, the whole comeback and price tag, and choosing TO stuff is great, he just seems to endlessly frustrate me. I am rooting for him to turn it around though.

I cant see why the leafs would trade Gardiner for him when we have Bolland, Bozak, Holland, Mclemment, Kadri..probably forgetting some

Fraser and Gunnarsson should be the bigger concern, besides blocked shots (Gunnar) they have been terrible.

Isles have plenty of prospects to make this deal work. Maybe Isles giving up a d prospect like Ville Pokka or Adam Pelech along with Poulin or Nilsson in goal for Reimer and Gardiner.

His reaction time and lack of urgency bothers me at times, but he's gotten better.
