Penalty Killing sucks for the goals against.

At 5 on 5 he's been on the ice for 14 .....fewest on the D. Considering he lines up against the other teams top lines it's a stat in his favour.

The PK needs to be better though ...and he is a part of the problem right now.

I know people like him, but I don't like seeing this chasing with one hand on the stick poking at the puck, I don't like seeing him being repeatedly beaten to the puck, I don't like seeing him get blown by and no effort to get back, I don't like seeing when the goalie is pulled, giving no effort to get back and fight for that puck, I don't like seeing him double clutching and not clearing the puck.

Too me, that is not a 7 mil D man. I don't think more of the same will improve the defence moving forward.

need to provide more context than this... how does that compare to others in the league in the same role? also in regards to QoC..dion is #1 in that regard.

Nashville has allowed 88 and Weber was on the ice for 57 of them..

You can hit someone in the right spot and they will be KO'd, force of the blow can be secondary to the location of the punch.

So ya top defender has horrible pk numbers..and people willing to pay him 7+...

Franson has the next 4 months to show last season wasn't a complete fluke. He's a 1-trick (pp assist) pony right now. I hope he can. Factor in quality of competition and Phaneuf is irreplaceable.

It should probably also be mentioned that a huge portion of Franson's GA came while on the ice with Rielly. They were playing them together a lot at the beginning of the year. His pace is much closer to the rest of the D while not with Rielly.

I really wish they left him down this year. Captain the WJC (or maybe Drouin). Start him in the AHL next year, and see if he can ease into the Leaf lineup.

He's doing fine. Every night is against the best players of every team. He plays physical and can add some offense. I wanna see the 5 on 5 stats if anyone has time to look that up for other top D in the league. If Leafs don't resign Dion, they're (franked).

I think his play has steadily declined and probably his confidence too. Send in to the Wjr's and see if he comes back fresh and confident. If not then maybe the WHL is the best spot for him. It's all about protecting his confidence right now.

i would rather cut him loose.. sign a couple guys like orpik and mitchell for the same money phaneuf would cost (and only be 3 or 4 years) to keep things stable while the kids develop and go from there.
