edit: Yup - watch again, his head never hits the ice (start: 00:25) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuVq-TZ7AJM

So Seidenberg's elbow to D'Amigo's head doesnt need to be looked at? Ask Bobby Ryan ..ain't the first time Seidenbergs dropped the peoples elbow on somoene.. Sure Dion should get a couple but c'mon

I couldn't either - I really didn't see what caused that trauma especially with those short shots - just caught the button I guess. Thumb guard? I'll look closer again.

OK saw it again - thanks Glucky - solid shot and head hit the ice.

Bruin players are allowed to elbow. You're late to the show. Watch Chara every game, he throws bows to melons for a hobby. It's crazy how they let it go.

This whole situation and backlash vs. Thornton makes me sick. If Orpik is prepared to run at and re-concuss a star player on the first shift of the game (aka targeted), he better be prepared to drop them with the opponents' tough guy. If Neal is prepared to intentionally knee an opponent in the head as he skates by, the whole team better be prepared for cheap shots coming from anyone at any time.

it was a clean hit on a player with the puck. Why would Orpik fight Thornton for making a good hit?

he hits the ice twice.... first time seem kinda light, but the second time there isn't much room between his head and the ice, and the punch just slams him down.

You can clearly see his head not bang against the ice.

Nope. It def does not hit the ice. For sure. Not only that, it’s somewhat irrelevant, because if someone hits their head while being thrown to the ice with a slewfoot, it’s pretty much grounds for a big suspension too.

Game 7, under 10 minutes to go... JVR gets eblowed in the face and is on the ice bleeding. No call. Think Boston wins that game if they spend 4 minutes of that come-back killing a penalty?

just watched the hits/sucker punch.

Orpik hit was clean as clean gets. Good hard hit... Eriksson should have had his head up.

Neal's knee on Marchand's head is dirty, but it happens so fast, I have a hard time believing it was intentional... just a happy accident.

Thorton should sit out the rest of the season. Going after a guy for a clean hit, and not even giving him the chance to defend himself is as low as it gets.

in slow mo you can see Neal look at his head, then lean into the knee. He absolutely knew what he was doing, and I have to admit I thought it was a little bit awesome cause it was Marchand... but obviously you can't have poop like that. could easily have been 10 games.

Yeah, I think that's the part that hurt the most. That non-call wins them the series.

his head doesn't hit the ice at all on the fall. the 2nd punch he's holding him down and his helmet looks like it's on the ice... so making it worse.

First time I saw it (not in slo mo), looked like his arms were up. Watched again just now I see he gets Louis' chest. Fair enough. But perhaps Thornton was seeking out the biggest player on the ice after Neal purposely kneed Marchand in the head?

Guys...

New pre-requisite to hang in the EE thread:

You now must only drink alcohol 40% and above. Beer drinkers are hereby pussies now.

It's just that at regular speed the whole thing happens in a couple of seconds.

I don't know. It's not a lot of time to think "oh hey, that guy's down, oh look, it's marchand, I should go over there and give him a knee to the head"... and then do it.

Makes more sense if it was planned out... in which case Crosby would need to get looked at as well.

ya Neal went off so he went for Orpik cause Eriksson was hurt on the play so he still wanted to fight him.

I'm all for fighting in hockey, but hate the fights after a guy makes a huge clean hit. (frank)ing stupid.

unless it's the guy who got rocked, no reason to fight there. And they call instigator like once out of 10 of those... if that. Why have the rule at all?

By that logic, dudes who drink that 20% Malibu fruity rum are less wussy than those who drink beer.

Yea, that's what I mean... on the 2nd punch, he hits the ice. Not from the fall.
