Pathetic.

At this rate Giroux is the worst contract in the League next year.

- PLindbergh31

His hands are poop this year. You have to worry a bit if all those injuries he has taken to them are taking a toll.

The hands and vision are what made Giroux special. He doesn't have that this year it seems.

What happened?

I was surprised to see Read shoot first. That's the only time I saw him tonight.

God I know right, 29 games into the season , what a joke.

I have learned everything I need about Giroux over those 29 games vs the 340 or so other games he has played.

I understand the optimism, and I am a guy that will defend Giroux for the most part, but he has been poop for more than just this season.

Ugh. We gave up a 2 goal lead and then got lucky to get a point. I can't decide if Mason has come back to earth the last two games or if the Flyers are just giving up some really good chances against and the bounces are going the other way.

Chicago is going to be a good test on Wednesday.

only saw the last 2 periods, but had the sound muted so I could get some work done.

from what I saw the Flyers were damn lucky to get a point.

Mason didn't have much of a chance on three of the four goals. And the fourth was on a breakaway.

It's got nothing to do with optimism, I just don't get selling him out based on 29 games over 340. Expect your best player to be your best player, 100% agree.. Worrying about his contract next season based on 29 games seems silly.

At the end of this season he will be right about where he is and that is a PPG player.

This team has much bigger problems then 25 year old Claude Giroux only having 20 points in 29 games.

Not that it matters but the Flyers never had a 2 goal lead in this game.

Giroux is a major reason this team isn't in a better position for a playoff spot. Vinny is the reason we're even half way decent (and the surge of the Coots line).

I don't care what Giroux did last year if we're not winning games. These stats only don't matter when they're winning. When they're losing they matter because its the reason why they're losing.

Giroux hasn't looked this bad his entire career.

There might be a little regression on Mason's part, but he really didn't have much chance on the goals he's allowed the last two games. That said, he looked a bit shaky tonight on a couple rebounds and had a few sequences where he wasn't tracking the puck well.

I assume Emery will start against the Blackhawks, and then Mason will get the Habs.

Yup...wires crossed. Was thinking about those two quick goals for the lead.

But thanks for ruining the story.

With Mason...look. I'll say it because at some point, we have to acknowledge this, as a fanbase:

Mason has been on an amazing -- repeat, in all-caps, AMAZING -- run since he got to the Flyers. He's been phenomenal.

But we have to be ready for some regression. We have to be prepared for it, for Mason to give up some goals.

It's going to happen. Math says so, the sport of hockey says so.

It doesn't mean that we shouldn't want, or expect, great goaltending. And it certainly doesn't mean that Mason's not going to give it to us.

But there's going to be some regression from the numbers he's posted. The math just dictates that.

I'll be ecstatic if he comes in at .920, and I'm fine with as high as 2.65...if he comes in at 2.50, I'll be thrilled.

Holmgren will have to address the defense, though. Luke Schenn had two points and looked horrible. Streit was worse.

I can't, and won't, dispute this -- Streit can't play like this.

See, it's tough. He should be on the third pairing -- and yes, I recognize that he's making a high salary for that expectation, but we've all gone over why he makes what he does.

But FFS. No, you can't go -4 and be pretty much responsible for at least two of them. That won't work, even if you should be shielded some, and should be the puckmover on the third pair.

He was brutal. I'd think long and hard about making him a healthy scratch against the Blackhawks, at least.

I had to restrain myself earlier when someone said this team could get into the playoffs and make some noise.

This team cant play against fast teams. How are they supposed to play playoff pace hockey?

They should be able to make the playoffs, based solely on talent.

The trouble is consistency. They have serious issues moving the puck, too many mental mistakes and right now are not even getting bounces.

It's not as bad as Saturday, but Holmgren has to do something...this mix of players just doesn't work. Something is missing
