Yeah but the team isn't finished as it is now. There will still be changes.

Exactly how I feel. We're 20-7 and playing with house money. I'd stand pat on guys like Stastny, Duchene, O'Reilly, MacKinnon, Landeskog etc. I mean if we deal someone like McGinn, Parenteau, Mitchell and so on..I can live with that. We're a work in progress going really well. Adjustments I can live with, big splashes...not worth the risk.

Ah, the +/- argument...

He also leads the Canuck D in Corsi rel QoC.

- Fosco

Except I put it in context, which is what you are supposed to do when discussing +/-. Did you completely miss that part? Selective reading?

And, no he doesn't lead the Canuck D in Corsi rel. QoC...He isn't even close. And even if he was, all that shots for, yet no production? Is he just unlucky?

But really though, this is an AMAZING young player that will win multiple cups over his life with the dynamic style he plays. Roy, Sakic and Sherman will sit down and give him a very fair contract offer and give him a chance to sign. If he accepts the deal then he will most likely be an Av for a very long time. If he looks Roy and Sakic in the face and says that he is worth more then they think he is then he will be traded.

Honestly its a win/win but also a lose lose. He is an AMAZING player and one of my favorites in the league. It would be incredibly difficult to replace what he brings to the avs(I can't stress enough what a big part of the club he is), and he the type of player you would kill to have in the playoffs. However the Avs still have some holes to fill and are set down the middle. I also think Stastny is staying long term.

So I don't know what "the word" is in MTL but that is realistically what is going on here in Denver.

- Meeqsb

I would be surprised if they moved him, but if by chance they are shopping him I'd want Montreal to in on him. I agree, he's one of the best 2-way players in the league and he's only 22. If he is made available the whole league will be interested and the bidding war will cause his stock to go through the roof.

Well he is leading Corsi QoC not relative though.

Avs have developing D prospects, so there is no reason to rush out to trade for one. I think all the main pieces are there they just aren't ready yet. I mean Bigras would have made the team at 18, but they sent him back. He will probably be there next year. The worst thing you can do is rush a rebuild.

But what does it matter if all those shots for versus shots against isn't translating to good play? Also, no one cared to discuss the powerplay either. Almost 3 minutes per game and 2 PP points?

He wasn't very good last year, and he isn't very good this year. Or, he is extremely unlucky. Take Mike Green and some other stuff, or (frank) off. You are not getting Carlson. (not you, but ya know..)

I love Corsi and Fenwick, but at some point, if the player isn't producing, what does it matter if he has good possession numbers? He's either very unlucky, or the numbers have been skewed in an isolated incident. It happens, neither system is perfect.

True, but yes his on-ice shooting percentage is way down from his career norms(both at even strength and on the PP), which means he has suffered from bad luck. However the advanced stats also show that his play has not been as strong either, so it's a bit of both really.

So it is finalized then... Canucks get Ovie and the Caps get Booth and Edler.

Done.

Edler arguably the most overpaid D-man in the league. Combine this season and the last one and he has 31 points and a -17. 9.25 million is a lot of wasted cap on him and Booth, probably why the nucks will be lucky to finish 8th in the west

'integral' LOL be careful you don'y use too big of words that you don't even understand
- Komisaurus Rex

FAIL.

try again.

maybe in your circle jerk of handicap friends the word 'integral' is a mystifying and high brow. but where I come from, it's pretty standard.

it means 'essential'.
worst diss attempt ever. Wow, what a fukin monkey...

and in this context; ROR has been 'integral' or 'essential' to the avs success this year.

it's never ending stupid on this website

I dont think anyone was, but he was a bargain for four years prior. He deserves the money. He's had an unlucky year with injuries. No chance I would trade Burrows for Clarkson, no chance.
- Boinker

No worries. Makes no sense. Canuvks should be rebuilding. Trading for draft picks not players. But they can't because no one will take their players.

The only way I'd take burrows is if the canucks packaged in about five first rounders. Well. Likes could work.

Good one, but I do agree they should be retooling. Only the Sedins, Horvat and Shinkaruk should be untouchable.

Ya that's 72 games. But let's just stat watch right? Edler is actually a stud who's had a tough year. This is an anomaly. Look at his resume.

Liles was demoted until the last nights game. Komisarek wasn't traded. Phaneuf has been excellent this season. Actually earning his pay. Other than that, bang on.

Come on guys, get real. RoR is a top young forward. He doesn't go for something like this.
- prock

Really? Is ROR a Bobby Ryan who went for 2 firsts and a 2nd, essentially a 1st and a 2nd as Noesen is a bust. ROR is a defensive minded forward, which go for much less than a high calibre player like Bobby Ryan. Surely, his age plays a factor, but you're only saying that because you would hate to see him on the Habs. Tinordi + 2nd might be a soft offer, but I as a Habs fan would not give up Tinordi in a deal for O'Reilly.
