(frank)in Doug McLean pissed me off last week.. He said Canada "could" put two Olympic teams in, but they would finish 5th and 6th. Oh (frank) of you spud muncher! There's no reason why 2 Canadian teams couldn't compete for gold. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Everytime I hear that fools name I just say, "Blue Jackets" and resume going about my life. |

One thing I can appreciate about this Leafs team so far this season, with their glaring weaknesses and getting outshot so badly, it must be irritating as hell to still get beat by the Leafs. It drives you insane when your team gets 50 shots and loses. Ha ha ha. The Sens had a PR campaign to get Leaf fans out of their games and last night's game had more blue than the ACC does, hilarious. - Zezel
If they succeeded in getting Leafs fans to stop coming they wouldn't sell a game out all year. That was the dumbest move from a business perspective I've ever seen, especially considering that Melnyk is always crying poverty. Worst owner in the league without a doubt. |

Last night they said the game was only the 4 or 5 sellout of the year for Ottawa. |

PEI is a unique place but so is hundreds of other places in Canada. Kyper needs to tell him to stfu about PEI while on air. |

Defense would be pretty thin and goaltending would be a coin flip. That whole "Canada could win gold and silver" line may have been true in the past but there are too many good hockey countries now.

Makes me laugh how he owns a team that was a strong Hab/Leafs/Bruins market and crys when not enough sens fans show up.. Hockey fans don't just change teams overnight.. There's a strong sense of pride in fans. |

Yeah exactly. Ok, maybe I exaggerated a bit but the fact is they're having trouble drawing fans. The last thing you do when you're not selling out your games is discourage people, anyone, from showing up and paying for a seat. I hope Bettman addressed that with Melnyk. |

It wouldn't be thin at all.. Price and ward on one team, Lu and Smith or Harding on another. Defence might be a little bit thin but Canada has a poopload of defensively gifted forwards. I'm not saying that they would for sure be competing for gold.. But other than Sweden and the US I don't think other teams would match up. Maybe Russia but they are thin. Their blue line would still be much weaker than either Canadian team. |

I think the whole "euros are pansies" arguement is moot.. I wouldn't (frank) with any British hooligans. Those guys are not right in the head. Hockey has created a culture of being tough in Canada, but I wouldn't say we are tougher, we just know what to expect on the ice. Rugby, hurling, Aussie rules etc are all physically gruelling sports. - Arctic_AARDVARK

No I totally sense that... But I get sick of conversations that carry no substance. I'd rather get into a meaningful discussion then make fun of everything. A mix is nice sometimes. |

Ottawa has a lot going for it as a hockey city though. First off, this isn't Winnipeg where they have a little over a million people in the whole province, it's the 4th or 5th biggest city in Canada. It's also a big college city. Put the arena in the city, keep tickets reasonable for the students, spend to the cap, and you're sold out every night. They put the arena in Kanata and they have an owner who couldn't run a lemonade stand. The Ottawa Senators are turning into our Phoenix Coyotes. |

An arena down on lebreton flats would have been awesome. Or where Ottawa U is. Somewhere where you could walk from the Byward market would be sweet. The civic center is in a nice spot but downtown would still be better. |
