Scattered thoughts after an exciting game:

1. Leafs 3-0 when allowing 50 shots. Make of that what you will.

2. Carlyle needs to let Gardiner off his leash. He never looks better than when he's allowed to skate freely.

3. And what the hell is Fraser doing on this team? The PK is ass once Phaneuf and Gunnar leave the ice.

4. Liles was a welcomed addition.

5. We face a Boston team that is either banged up and demoralized or pissed off and out for blood. Yikes.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I agree with most of what you said. Gards needs to be tamed tho, unless you limit his ice time. Boston isn't pissed at the Leafs so who cares.

2-0 with D'Amigo in the line-up. Kid's the secret.
- BetterCallSaul

They've given up 50 shots a game since he's been up. I blame him!

yes.... i think he should answer the bell..... the question mark means i am asking a question... the question is not my opinion...... it's a question to Fruit.... that YOU jumped in on without reading..... and then proceeded to proclaim what i said to others.... again WITHOUT reading.
- Rockhead_37

Why should he answer the bell for throwing a body check? I read what you said, orpik should have answer the bell so it was right for thorton to go after orpik for the hit. I don't think you understand what your saying. But keep taking shots at me for proving you kkeep circling about how orpik should have fought thorton and this wouldn't have happen.

- nbboy

And boom goes the dynamite

Don;t get me wrong, I'd expect Neal to have to fight for what he did.

Not Orpik. That was clean.

- lumlums

unless it's on kessel, then everyone changes tune....

all i'm saying if its a star.... you dont hit them like that.

if it was marchand that got hit and not eriksson..... no arguments... plus thornton probably doesnt step in.

but seriously.... is thornton going to go after kadri? or kessel or lupul?
no, thats not the code.... only a douche like Jon scott does that...

my whole side of the argument is based on non skilled heavy weight being the delivery man...

to me Orpik is more like Franson or Fraser.... and if those 2 guys threw that check.... yes, i expect them to answer the bell....

but i get that you have a different view, and i am okay with that. i was just asking questions with loose interpretations to see where you would stand if it were a leaf....

- Rockhead_37

"to me Orpik is more like Franson or Fraser"..Really???

"Code".LOL......Scott went after Kessel....Ya so called code doesn't exist in the league anymore...

Thornton more proof of that tonight...

I guess you'd have to ask Wendel Clark that.

nope... i think it was clean.....
albeit he never touched the puck and wasn't looking that way.... (not sarcasm)

it's a clean hit to me... but guys like fraser, franson, orpik, mcquaid, boychuck when they throw that hit on a STAR.... they should have to stand up to whoever comes calling....
that is what my opinion is. and in my opinion, if they do, then the cheap shots by thornton at the end dont happen. also you dont have stars like eriksson, crosby ovechkin, kessel missing 20-30 games because of them

- Rockhead_37

This attitude is one of the biggest problems in the game. Being a skilled player doesn't give you immunity from being hit.

Physical play and big hits are a huge part of Orpiks game and he's entitled to play that way because those are two of his strengths. He shouldn't have to fight and then sit for 5 minutes every time he makes a big play. That's like saying Kessel should sit for 5 minutes after he scores a goal. It doesn't make any sense.

Probably. But I would argue it has more to do with Eriksson's recent injury history after the Scott hit than him being a star.

And there are lots of hits like that on stars, hell Nas and Phil take a couple like that every night. I'm okay with it as long as its skates down, elbow tucked in, not hitting the head.

He's a top six winger who was brought in to score points. He was the centerpiece of a blockbuster deal.

Eriksson puts butts in seats.

The only time you should have to fight after a hit is if it was a bad hit. That was not a bad hit.
- Jeffmt

and i agree with half of your statement..... it was not a bad hit....

although the more i look at the more i question it.... but it's slow motion so i'll stick with it was clean.

oh yeah... tell someone else what there saying... because you know what i'm saying...

you'd do a better job at saving face if you just stopped talking.... because YOU are the one who said that I condoned the Thornton hit.... so lets not forget what you and i are arguing about.... the only way to change that is for you to go back and delete it....

the rest was me and fruit having a discussion.

Orpik doesn't have to make that hit. He can ease up.

We talk about head injuries and how the game has changed and how guys don't ease up anymore. Well, that's part of it. There needs to because healthy respect put back in the game.

I'm sure plenty of guys eased up on Yzerman when Probert was hanging around.

And, again, we as Leafs fans should understand the power of a fight to protect our talent. We had Domi around for ages. One of the most kick-ass moments of the modern era was when Clark beat the snot out of McSorley for creaming Gilmour cutting through the middle (a clean hit).

I just want you to know Yeti... I wouldn't talk to you like that. I'm a little worried your cat would drive down to red deer and terrorize poop.
