well thats a different debate... i was just making the point on why i think the instigator rule is bs based on my opnion of the hit... and its not so much the star players having to answer for fights im concerned about if the rule is abolished... how often does kessel make a hit worth fighting over... i think it will get rid of the kaletas of the league because unless they turtle and completely embarass themselves they cant just run and hide behind said goon anymore

In time maybe, but he had a big contract and was not living up to it while providing multiple distractions off the ice.... they had to stick or twist and chose the latter on the back of a reasonable deal

It will stop someone like Kadri from hitting in this league....If the result of a clean hit means he has to fight the "Thornton's" of the league...

The "Instigator" protects guys like Kadri not Kessel(as he dont hit)...If not u get way more of what happened tonight...

yup
they already had their top two centers signed to long term contracts. Seguin was being wasted and they had to trade him to help other areas. They got the best they could considering he had an off year and some off ice problems

NOorpik sshouldn't have to fight him and if thornton doesn't try to jump him then that ddoesn't happen. This solely on thorton for jumping orpik.

You make it sound like Orpik is a 5-6 plug who skates for 12 minutes a night, and not a 21+ minute a night guy who is a lock to go to the Olympics. He's a top Dman who shouldn't have to justify his game by dropping the gloves on a clean hit just because Joe Blockhead wants to justify his existence...

It doesn'tmatter who it is I think in the same situation he does it again.

Had they been playing even a half-decent team that would have been ugly. I'm glad that they've gotten a couple wins now but my concern is that they'll fall right back into that trap of thinking their game is fine. It's not fine. Another night of getting badly outshot and taking a comical amount of penalties. They have to fix this stuff.
