your argument would make sense if thornton fought orpik. i could see that being a form of policing the game, even after a clean hit (although like other i feel one shouldnt have to fight after a clean hit). but thornton literally attacked him from behind after the whistle. its the exact kind of thing that needs to be out of the game.

Ehhh, puck wasn't really there. So vulnerable, I think a hit like that, you're going to get called out on.

I hate seeing guys having to fight after great clean open ice hits, but that one I agree with.

I remember I had a coach once where if you skated by a hit like that or laid back then you rode the pine. And it didn't matter who you were. Yep, he was the best coach I ever had as well.

yeah no.... play was stopped.... thornton came in grab his sweater.... knocked him down.... or atleast someone knocked him down, there were 5 guys there.....
after he was down, thornton punched him twice.

i'm not condoning what thornton did... just said that if a 5-6 dman can throw a monstrous hit on a Star knock him out and then skate around avoiding ppl because its ok.... have fun watching nhl with no kessel/crosby/malkin/seguin/thornton/toews etc..... the actual argument back to me is that if it was kessel throw the hit should he fight...
yeah.... that scenario is exactly the same.

to top it off.... a REF chimes in without reading to say i condone what thornton did.
