I don't mind when they use NHL player comparables as shorthand in place of a detailed scouting report... it just becomes ridiculous when people conflate those comparables with potential ceilings or potential production.

Nichushkin is big, strong, rangy and has a good skill set -- OK, he kind of looks like Malkin out there. Blake Wheeler kind of looks like Malkin sometimes, too... but anybody who thinks he's in the same league as Malkin needs to have their head checked.
