Not smart, but not overly horrible. Drouin wasnt 5 feet from the boards, he was right there.

It's a dirty hit. Right in the numbers.

It's a hit, when are they dirty. I watched it a couple of times and yes it's a little questionable, but this is hockey. You can dissect it after the fact, but in the heat of the moment it's hard. 5 and the game is fine, but to define boarding they techniqualy need to be further out from the boards. Drouin got plastered against the glass. You're mad because it was Drouin AND that Erne made the hit.

You're wrong there. Boarding is defined like this:

"A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player or goalkeeper who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently in the boards."

I don't really care who the hitter is, or who's being hit. That's a bad hit 10 out of 10 times. It just so happened that it's two Lightning prospects, so I shared it.

In your opinion. I'm sick and tired of guys standing against the boards and either taking a hit and a dive or gets hurt and cries foul! If you know you can get seriously hurt standing like that, why would you stand like that? I knew smoking was harmful, so I stopped, same applies here if you face the boards then expect to get hit.

This is true . You should never ever put yourself in a vulnerable position in any sport , however it's just a given that no one will hit you from behind unless their cheap shot bumholes . It's kind of like Harley Davidson drivers ... There's no law stating that when you pass a Harley when ur driving a Harley that you HAvE to wave ... But it's just common sense to wave because that's just the way it is .. Except in this case there literally is a rule against it .. I have no opinion on this hit because I can't see it due to the player in the way . But this is my opinion on close boating calls ... The player being hit turns his back and makes himself vulnerable in a physical sport , but the hitter should know better to stop when he sees the numbers . Tough call to make . But since drouin and Erne are teammates I think it's a bit lame .. Have some respect for a future teammate and all star

I would say the same thin if drouin hit Erne ...they're buds , take it down a notch

If you stand on NB I-275 and face south are you gonna see the traffic run you over? EVERYONE on the ice needs to be responsible and if I know that there are some rough characters on the ice, I'm sure as hell NOT gonna put myself into that position.

They may be on the same prospect list, but tonight they are opponents. I sucks th at Drouin got hurt, but both are to blame for it. Erne for not pulling up and a Drouin for putting himself into a position where he can be seriously injured.

I agree 100% with this . Although I did not see the hit because you can't see it due to a player in the way , you know better to turn your back against players coming in hard along the boards . Also Erne knows to let up . I was suspended for Ernes exact situation and I lost it at the reff because the guy ever so clearly turned his back for literally no reason after seeing me coming in on the forechecking last second . Also I know when a guy turns to let up but I didn't . It goes both wys for sure

Well....this might get awkward.....

From Metro News:

"He wasn’t far from the boards and I pushed him pretty hard,” said Erne, who also received a game misconduct for the hit. “I thought it was a dive and I thought everybody else did, too. I wouldn’t have even gotten a penalty if he didn’t dive into the boards.”

He also said that Drouin could have absorbed the hit standing up, and avoided injury.

“If he dives and goes head first he’s going to hurt himself,” added Erne, who also knocked Murphy out of the game with a shoulder check before stealing the puck and scoring the game’s first goal."

Wouldn't say selfish, just had a knack for being invisible real often. I aalways liked him and thoughtthat his last deal at a 3m cap hit was ggoingto look like a steal by the eend but he just never really hit that point outsidehis one big season. NNice to see him doing well in tampa, and yes Stevey Y is the man.

Yeah, I wouldn't call Flip selfish at all. If anything, he was probably to generous in passing the puck when he should shoot. He did have stretches where you didn't notice him much too. He just never lived up to the potential the Wings had set for him...at least not as a center.

As for Weiss (I would have like Grabovski for 1 year instead) well I wasn't as excited as some were to get him since every time I had seen him play for Florida, I was never impressed by him but figured I would give a chance to show what he can do with the Wings. Not sure what his problem is but he looks slow and lost most of the time. I hope he can turn it around given his contract but my hopes are fading for him this season anyways. Wonder if Babcock screwed with his game by stressing defense to him so much that now he stinks at both ends...kind of like he did to Ericsson, Kindl, Smith and other offensive players that weren't that great on the defensive side to begin with. Every little mistake or blown coverage and they start to stress so much that they forget about offense completely and still make mistakes defensively.

I've watched Wiess and I have never been impressed with him in Florida. Looking at Filppula behind Datsyuk and Zetterberg I can see why he might look slow and lost at times. Those two make almost anyone look that way.
