Last year L. Schenn in 47 games

3G, 8A, +3, 187 Hits, 102 Blocked shots, 34pims

This year in 25 games

1G, 0A, -3, 76 Hits, 30 Blocked shots, 23pims

He has regressed in every facet of the game.

- PLindbergh31

I don't care about the stats all that much, but when I watch him, the first touch of the puck is pretty bad, often results in a turn over or at best a scramble for possession.

He seemed more poised with the puck last year.

One of the big criticisms was he would get way out of position to make a hit, and honestly I haven't noticed him doing that. It's more that he handles the puck like a live hand grenade.

What you bring up encompasses every facet. His current level of play isn't NHL caliber. 5th season in the NHL he shouldn't be going backwards.

Tatar has a great set of hands, kind of surprised he isn't a regular for them yet.

Amazing what happens when you commit to drafting for pure skill... Nyquist, Jurco, Pulkkinen, Frk, Tatar, Jarnkrok.... every one of them has sick mitts... next generation of Wings are gonna give Filppula and Datsyuk a run for their money.

This past Red Wings game was my 15th live game seeing the Flyers since March 2002. I am now 6-8-0-1 when seeing the Flyers play live.

I've seen the Red Wings play a lot and I must say that they've proved two things to me. The first is they do need Datsyuk and Zetterberg to be successful but at the same time, their puck possession and support out there is truly poetry in motion. Even the worst player on that team can look like a star on any given night.

That 6-3 victory was a real treat regardless of who played. The Flyers shot themselves in the foot so many times that it's amazing that they still have toes...but they over came the situation they put themselves in. Fans were all over me. I couldn't have been more delighted to be there.

OMG he looks like such a DUCHE!

What the hell do you need a snow cap and cardigan on inside for! and who the hell wears a cardigan over a feaking t-shirt with matte balck jeans. It screams "I'm a douche!".

yeah he should have gone with the shiny jeans

Leino is nearly as bad as that wrinkled up prune Keith Richards.

The question I have, and don't know the answer,

was last season a mirage and this is the real player we are seeing?

I hope not.

All the pundits for good reason say that D take a lot longer to mature, and he was likely rushed into the NHL before being ready, but it is worrisome.

Especially watching JVR play with confidence right now.

While I agree, I'm not sure how fair this is. Right now Luke is reaching the half way point of last season. He could still pick it up but has gone from playing with Timonen last season to a three game healthy scratch this season. I still have faith him in Luke Schenn though.

Good question. I have no idea. If Schenn plays like he did last year Flyers still get the short end of the stick in the trade, this year it looks embarrassing.

He was also playing with a not quite decrepid Timonen on the top pairing instead of turnover machine Streit on the 3rd pairing.

I am pessimistic that Dallas turns into another Minnesota game.

Who knows with these guys though.

With Mason and the D first system they have a shot at winning most nights.
Although I think the Blackhawks are going to go full Globetrotter on them and it will be very ugly.

- Marc D

I agree. I think it's unlikely the Flyers make the Hawks give up on their own game plan like we did the Wings.

Need to get Pronger out of the "War Room" and back on the Ice with Schenn. Next Training camp he needs to just have a session where he takes Schenn and Morin and they do thier thing. Am I right?

If Gustafsson and or Meszaros were playing with any consistency at all, Schenn would still be in the Cote suite. The way he's playing he doesn't deserve to dress.

It's laughable that they didn't buy him out last summer. He better have been hurt at the time because he should be gone! Not even just from the Sabers but I'm betting he pulls a Dopita after we shipped him to Edmonton.

The way Holmgren handled the Leino situation was about the best thing he's done the last 3 years.

First he acquired him from Detroit for OKT, Leino was a very productive player for the Flyers and was damn near a vital cog on a Cup winning team. Second he let Leino walk when contract demands got ridiculous.

You stick to the same tired script no matter how LSchenn actually plays, and he has played fine lately. Better than whichever of Gus or Mesz that he's been paired with.

I'm shocked Capuano is still employed. I understand the Isles don't have an NHL caliber goaltender with Nabakov down, but aren't they something like 0-11-3 in their last 14 games?

Edit: 1-7-2 in their last 10

Lieno was on IR during the buyout period. Really they should have Gomez'd him knowing how injury prone he was and did the intent to buyout.

You might be able to fool yourself into thinking you aren't ignoring anything that doesn't fit your Schenn-is-useless agenda, but you don't fool me. I watch the games, and he has been fine ever since Berube tried the disastrous Gill + Meszaros experiment.

Since the team is doing better now you have to laser focus your whining on something, I guess.
