So, would this be like trading Karlsson for Nugent-Hopkins before Karlsson signed his mega deal? - AlfieFever

I'm sure WPG would be on fire. The point of the question was just to highlight that while we love to criticize the player, most of us would gladly take him on our team, even if it means trading our best d-man. Hell, I would even consider it. Because he is soon turning 37 years old, I would trade Chara for Subban and deal with the riots in Boston. It's a business. - Alpamayo91
I was only kidding that he sucks.
He did afterall win a *Norris. |

Yakupov+ for Any 2nd liner or 2nd pairing dman, and just move on from the pain - DDM-Coga
I do not believe there is a market for Yakupov. I believed in the Edmonton rebuild. But the last few years has been bizarre. They have put all the alumni in key jobs where they sit around and pretend they are Cup contenders.
I fear the Oil may need to think about a reset. But before they do anything, the entire front office needs to be let go. |

I doubt that's a concrete rule. They're not going to pass over someone who makes the team better because he shoots the wrong way. If it's a bubble player, maybe that comes into play. - Jeffmt
I'm just saying what Babcock said himself... Even the analysts in L'antichambre (french habs TV show) were shock when they heard that... and babcock also said that he's not necessarily picking the top F & D statistically, we wants the best players as a team... |

I still have nightmares about the night I watched that game, in French, as a kid. I after he was traded I was so mad I took down all my Roy picks and didn't want to put on my Roy road hockey gear for a couple weeks. Man was I bummed haha
But yeah, the only way PK is traded is if he wants out. And if he wants out, then that sucks. But I think he's happy in Montreal. And I think he's happier under Therrien then under Martin (just my opinion. Nothing to back that up) - SmielmaN
Did you know that the day of this game, Roy happened to be walking in downtown Montreal and sees Mike Vernon having breakfast in a restaurant. He walks in and asks to join him to which Vernon says yes. While their having breakfast Roy asks Vernon how he likes it in Detroit and Vernon tells him its the best he's felt in his whole career. No pressure like playing for a Canadian team. That same night he allows i think it was 9 goals and once Tremblay pulled him he tells pres. Corey that he doesn't ever wanna play in mtl again and asks for a trade. Mike Vernon coincidentally avoided all media questions after the game and only came out with this story recently in his book.
So before any of the Canadiens fans freak out, remember that you once trade the BEST goalie in the league at the time in Patrick Roy, and they have also traded a SUPERSTAR defenceman before in Chris Chelios. In the end anything is possible. They traded Roy and their captain at the time Mike Keane for Thibault, Rucinsky and Kovalenko. That was a fair trade right!! and Chelios got traded for the aging Denis savard and a secound round pick.... also a fair trade right. Maybe there is too much pressure in MTL, that after a while players just get sick of it and want out/ Im just saying anything is possible. |

Sorry to get MTL fans all butthurt, but it's being widely reported that subban isn't making team Canada at present. Not me just making it up (like this trade scenario) |

You NEVER trade defense for offence. This only makes sense if PK told Montreal that he won't re-sign there. If not, you pay him. It's not like the Habs are hurting for cash either. - duxcup07
TOTALLY AGREE! As much as McKinnon is good...PK is better. |

and of course Roy colluded with Tremblay to let him in for all 9 goals so that he would have a reason to be enrage...right! |

I'm a Sharks fan. Subban is elite and has no business not being there, deal with it.
Also why the (frank) should I care what reporters say? There's a reason they don't pick the team. Reporters "report" what will generate the most discussion. |

Oh God.. that would be like saying that a surgeon is great just because he has degrees on his wall. I will not deny his talent but frankly, the trophy means nothing in my evaluation. I know you agree with me on this one, people need to stop using this Norris thing as an argument in any discussion. |

A) Rejean Houle made the Roy trade. enough said.
B) yes, the Chelios trade sucked, but Montreal won a Cup without Chelios, and Chicago never won a thing with him.
but that's an interesting story about Vernon.

Agreed. He's dominant and a game-breaker. With the other all-stars and leaders on the ice he may well come out as one of the most valuable players on the team. |
