that's their choice. Maybe they have no one else? Maybe they don't care about their health? Maybe they think the 2 points in October are more important than an injury to a top player? Maybe they don't think there is a risk of injury? Maybe I don't give a poop?

All I know is I don't need to see Subban out there blocking shots to close out a game to know that he's a very good defenseman. He won the Norris last year (whether YOU think he deserves it or not is besides the point) and he's gotten better this year.

Comparing Iginla and Subban is like comparing Carlton Banks and Stringer Bell.


It would be naive if not willfully ignorant to say there hasn't been an undercurrent of racism in the portrayal of PK Subban.

Or to put it another way, if Luke Schenn, who was drafted in the same year, had PK's skill set and personality, he'd be the face of the league right now.

I just think the race card is over played in this case. He's pretty flamboyant out there and quite frankly pretty dirty and I think that angers fans of other teams a lot more than the fact he's black.

What if it was Steve Ott or Matt Cooke. Two players that have turned into a couple of pretty effective players. Or Steve Downie? Those guys are hated also.

Exactly. Truthfully, he is not in a system that let's him shine. He has all the gifts offensively, the Kings are just a defense first team, so he is held back from doing what he does best.

But he has become a really good defender as well, something he wasn't that good at a few years back.

I'd argue that in an offensive minded system, he'd be top 3 or top 5 in points for D year in and year out. I might be wrong, but that's how good I think he is.

1st bolded part: Not an appropriate comparison. Those 3 guys are hated for being 3 of the dirtiest players in the league. The resentment toward PK is attitudinal, and yet, when Ovechkin pretends his stick is on fire, or runs into the boards after every goal, he "loves to score".

2nd bolded part: Totally agree about the polarizing effect of playing for the Habs. Don't agree as much with the Phaneuf comparison because PK's is a substantially better player.
