Do you guys think Letang will get an invite for Team Canada? Not sure he was at the summer camp or not, but he looked like a shoo-in for one of the 5/6 spots after last year, now maybe not. - jmatchett383
No way.

Ryan Wilson: Tyler Kennedy Returns To Pittsburgh
Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Kennedy comes back to Pittsburgh for the first time since he was traded to San Jose - Ryan_Wilson
A tribute to Tyler Kennedy? Are you serious? The guy was a 3rd-line role player and only played 6 seasons with the team! |

So you're not coming to the parade? Just wait until you see the festivities when Cooke comes home. |

It doesn't hurt anyone to do it, and he was an instrumental cog in winning a cup here. Its small things like this that the Penguins do that other players notice and remember when free agent time comes.... |

Don't read too much in to it... they do like a 30 second video during a TV timeout just to say thanks. It's not like there is going to be some elaborate pregame ceremony. |

29 consecutive games together WERE most for Malkin/Crosby since 08-09 season.

Instrumental? Hey, I'll agree it's a nice touch but take it easy. This is what drives me nuts about Pens fans...once someone puts on a Pens jersey they become a premier player apparently.
How about a Ziggy Palffy or John LeClair tribute? LeClair was instrumental in absolutely drilling Malkin way back when.

Yeah, an incredibly deep Sharks team against a one line Penguins team. Good times.... |

Kennedy won a cup here. It's a 30 second max thing that they will show during a commercial break. If you want to get bent out of shape over that, go ahead. |

Day to Day....So essentially you are saying he will be back some time in January
This game just went from a measuring stick game to a guess we will see what happens |

Pay attention please. I never said he was a premier player, I said he was instrumental.
-He was a home grown player and part of one of the most effective 3rd lines in hockey while he was here.
-He scored 2 game winning goals in the Flyers series during the cup run.
-He made the play along the wall that sprung Staal for the first goal in game 6 vs Detroit and scored the second (game winning) goal that got the Penguins a game 7 in Detroit that they ultimately won.
So yes, I'd call that instrumental, as in, they don't win the cup if he doesn't make those plays in game 6.
And as another poster stated, its going to be a 30 second video during the TV timeout, so what's your problem? |

I remember fondly the too many men on the ice call he received at the Mellon, for going directly to the locker room from the attacking zone with a shoulder injury... |

Bennett and Sutter are a good start to good 3rd line, but Bennett needs to get healthy before that happens. Then if you can add the right third piece at the deadline, it could be a very good 3rd line in no time flat.
This isn't selling Kobasew short - he'll likely be a help when he gets back. - hardnosed
Going forward the Pens should be able to use their Cap Space to address the 3rd-line as they've already addressed the Top-6 F (Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz, Dupuis) and the D (Martin, Letang, Scuderi) the past few off seasons. Add in the RFA deals (Despres, Sutter, Bortuzzo) or entry level deals (Maatta, Bennett, Dumoulin, Harrington, Pouliet) & it looks like the Cap should really allow the Pens to add some quality depth.
Shero really has done an amazing job with the Pens Cap situation. By my count he is responsible for the two of the three best trades in Penguins history & keeping togther an extremely talented core of players in the Salary Cap age. |

Additionally there will be a time where Bennett takes Dupuis' spot full time and Dupuis then becomes a very solid 3rd line player. |
