not to mention that canadian teams were struggling just to stay afloat pretty much all through the 90s.. a lot of canadian teams lost their star power because they could afford to pay them.

also he fails to consider that where the team is located matters very little. i would bet he count name one single american team who won the cup whose roster wasnt significantly canadian

I think it averages out to just over 73% were Canadian players on any given cup winner in the last 20 years, averaged out with every team as a whole. Bettmans mandate of building the game south of the border has obviously worked well for growing the league. Not so well for Canadian hockey fans.
