Henrik Lundqvist will earn $11M, incl an $8M signing bonus, in Year 1 of his extension with NYR. He will receive $5.5M in final year (7th).

Nice pay day next year....

Not really a big deal, Staal is on his way out to carolina, 4M right there. They can make brassard, hagelin, stralman, boyle expendable. Alot of their guys wont be resigned. The main guys like callahan and girardi will be resigned

The rangers can make a huge deal to the hurricanes involving Staal.

Id try and acquire Skinner, and their prospect defenders of murphy and faulk

Steve Dangles videos are a joy to watch, identifies alot of poop

So basically, 4th line is garbage

Carlyle said mclaren should of talked instead of tried to fight.... yes Mclaren out of all people is going to do that

The 4th line has 0 pts and barely any shots

Was game over after the 4th line (frank)ed up for staying too long out.

With gardiner on the ice, we have more shots than opposing teams. When he is off, we have are limited.

He said fraser is playing hurt now or is not the same. Better terms, he sucks.

Ranger sucks.

Liles or Brennan should be called up.

- Mapleleafs_91

Ya I'de give Liles another shot... Oh, wait... Cant, cap is f-ed.

for

Skinner, Murphy, Faulk

Top 2 lines:

Nash Richards Skinner

Kreider Stepan Callahan

Good depth players for when you need 'em, like now.
- gravyface

Depth or a lack thereof has been the issue, both from the defence and depth forwards.

The Toronto blue-line has barely made a blip in the cause offensively, totaling a scant three goals all season, two from Dion Phaneuf and one into an empty-net. By comparison, the San Jose Sharks, who beat the Leafs at the ACC on Tuesday, have 16 goals from their defenders this season. Four Sharks alone have more goals individually than do the Leaf defence as a unit.

"When you describe our hockey club it's always the back-end," said Randy Carlyle following practice on Wednesday morning. "Does the back-end need to provide more javascript:emoticon('')offence? For sure it does. We need more from our back-end."

Unlike last season, the team has also gotten little in the way of contributions from its depth forwards. David Clarkson and Nik Kulemin have a mere two goals apiece while Jay McClement, averaging nearly 17 minutes, has yet to score and has just two assists. A fourth line with plenty of punch has been predictably punch-less offensively, the likes of Colton Orr, Frazer McLaren, Troy Bodie, Carter Ashton, and the since waived Jerred Smithson, all with zero goals this season.

I don't consider Smith or Smithson to be regulars on our roster, but depth players; there's a difference. Yes, we need more secondary and bottom six scoring, but that's not Smith and Smithson's fault. They're organization depth players and I don't have a problem with them.

The D, the 2nd line, the 3rd line...

84% of the goals are coming from the top line and a handful of other players (like Bolland and Bozak, both injured).

That's not good enough, but we have lost alot of man hours this year. Still, they're just not playing hard like they used to last year, not skating, not hitting and forechecking with any consistency.

There hasn't been a second line most nights. Either Kadris out or Lupuls hurt. But if the D was even middle of the road it would be easy to get through those stretches. If guys are healthy Bolland and Clarkson could play third, would probly make a big difference.

This recent turn of events with the Leafs has caused the big blue and white boner I had at the start of the season to melt like an ice cream bar. I'm totally zen about it though.

For the Leafs' sake, Kessel can't be out for a long time.
Bozak has been doing not that bad point wise recently.
