Had a few beer & a good debate the other night with some of my poolie addicts & we were discussing the what if had we paid that huge price for Seguin last June. We were all glad it didnt happen, Flames could just not give up Money, Gaudreau + whatever roster player for him at the beginning of a rebuild. Dallas was a pretty darn good fit but the team that really missed the boat, the team where MacT really could have made that big splash were the Oilers. Last June, Bruins may have given up Seguin + for Yaks straight up. Imagine having Seguin & RNH as your 1/2 punch & still get Nurse. Right now, if Oilers asked Dallas if they would give Seguin for Yaks straight up, I seriously dont think they would even think twice about doing that right now. It's amazing how 4 months can change things so dramatically. I dont know what to say about you guys up north. How long is Bryz out for?

Likely. But Jones was supposed to go 1 or 2 this past draft also. But I expect, when its all said and done, trade deadline is over etc, we will be battling FLA for 29th in the league.

Well first of all it isn't gonna happen.....

But in reality, it's not that bad of a deal. But it's just too risky, on both sides.

Sure PK is a beast, but MacKinnon could be better. I wouldn't risk this chance if I were the AV's. I'd rather try and upgrade the back end via trades and the draft rather than trade away the next Toews.

And as far as Montreal is concerned. Why would they trade one of the best D in the league right now for a guy like MacKinnon? What if MacKinnon amounts to a 3rd liner at best?

Why would they trade their Norris Dman & flush any playoffs & playoff run down the toilet cause Mckinnon aint leading that team in the playoffs this year. Maybe in the future. This is a deal that doesn't make sense now, but maybe at the end of the season if they feel they cant get PK inked long term.

Both sides seem to absolutely hate the deal, which makes me think that it might actually be feasible.

I think I'd do it from both sides of the fence.
