Raffl reminds me of Wellwood with a bit less scoring touch.
- exlund

He will be a perfect 4th liner for this team.
Kills penalties and positionally very sound.
Back checks like a mofo
If he could get the puck on net he would be even better
But a very solid 4th liner

Any chance the Flyers can retain Downie? He's really helped open up Coots offensive game with Read.
- jstross

I would sign him to a 3 yr deal right now, 10-11M.
He's been money and I love his attitude.

I'm half I was wrong about the downie trade. He has energized our offense on that line.

I'm also glad that coots is growing offensively, something I never thought he would do.

Coots is on my untouchable list now. In 2 ye ars we can trade Giroux and have coots/laughton/vinny as our centers.

Meh.. hate being down on giroux.. his play is killing me.

Two players with a similar style who have lost an edge are Hartnell(despite his showing yesterday) and Simmonds. Hope to see them pick it up.

Simmonds has been great since the first ten games.
Hartnell is what he is.
Streaky with a helping of stupid, but when he is scoring those one timers from the high slot... oh man.

Hartnell is another guy who seems to step it up in the playoffs. He just needs to start playing with some more edge. He's best when he's pissing the other team off. He doesn't have a poop-eating grin of Burrows or Barnaby, but he's a guy that 29 others teams just want to kill.

Kinda funny you said that as I was reading this on TSN:

"Couturier's line had a big night as his linemates, Scott Hartnell and Matt Read, each had a goal and two assists."

I swear TSN hasn't seen a flyers game in 40 years.

They should really be shopping Simmonds at this point as a starting piece for a Dman. You have Downie and Hartnell already and I'm pretty sure you could bring up McGinn and not lose a ton of what Simmonds brings to the table that those three other guys cannot fill.

Simmonds and one or (more likely) two 2nd rounders should be enough to get you a solid puckmoving D man.

(FYI I'd rather move Hartnell over Simmonds for contract reasons but that is going to be a tough move to pull off)

I agree with all that. Only caveat is that I wouldn't trade Simmonds in the division, and would prefer to trade him to the West.

In his last 13 games, Sean Couturier has 5 goals and 6 assists and is +10.

In his last 13 games, the horrible, awful, soon to be overpaid Claude Giroux has 5 goals and 8 assists and is +7.

I'm not opposed to it, as long as it's not an older guy with 1 year left, and it better be a top-3 guy. Simmonds has multiple years left, and I'm not looking to trade 2nd rounders for a guy who will be here for a 1/2 season and leave, or be a place holder on the bottom pair.

Dude, we all know that Couturier was a proven bust last year, and that Giroux is AT BEST a 3rd line center. They should both be traded to reacquire Andreas Nodl and Geoff Sanderson.

Went to this Philly cheesesteak /Philly sports bar in Hell's Kitchen tonight to watch the game (Shorty's). We were pulling our hair out for the 1st 2 periods and all smiles in the 3rd. My relationship with this Flyers team is thee definition of a love-hate relationship.

Good to see Hartnell on the scoresheet but I'm still not content with his play. His salary and ice time demand much more IMO. Giroux shooting the puck more is a welcome sight to behold.

The Couturier unit just keeps setting the tone for this team. All 3 guys are playing so well. I was a bit vocal and brutal at times earlier in the season about Couturier being basically a tall and lanky second coming of Ron Sutter. I'm gladly eating crow right now. Couturier is growing and developing each day at an amazing clip. I really do see a lot of untapped potential and think (hope) that this is just the beginning. Hard to believe he's only 20.

Mason is still doing his damn thing. Great to see that after he let in that somewhat soft goal from Franzen how he does not get rattled and just refocuses and moves on.

hartnell was on the ice for one of the goals, and that's only because he came out of the box after punching that guy in the head and stayed on the ice. he hunted down the dump in that started the play...but c'mon tsn.

Crosby only had 15 pts in his last 13 games. Giroux for Crosby?
