'or something'

You must think Statsny is a real pos if you're so bummed on getting him.

He has more pts than any C on your team and a better FO% right now, and missed a couple games recently.

Instant upgrade over anyone you currently have save for "Maybe" Eller, whom still hasn't completely blossomed into a guy you could trust 100% of the time, imo, like Statsny.

Staz has a Stanley Cup ring and multiple other hardware from winning in big tournaments.

He's only 28. It's not like he's 30 fukking 5.

Simply saying the Hawks proved they deserved their cup last year.

Subban has been 'this awesome' for what.. a year or two now? He has yet to prove anything past that.

The hawks pproved they deserved their cup by winning the cup.

Same with subban,

What difference does 2 seasons ago have to do with how good a player is today

I'll venture out and say Avs could use a player like Josh Gorges. He's reliable defensively and blocks alot of shots (the type of player Roy would want) but he come with a $3.9 million salary for another 4 years. Not sure Montreal want to part ways but they have to resign Markov and Subban for next year and that by itself could cost the Habs over 12 millions for next year. Also, Lars Eller must resign and he should get a healthy raise. I know it's 4 players for 2 but Gorges could be part of it. Don't know what the Avs' 4th line looks like but Ryan Whyte is playing great hockey.

We're comparing an entire team to a defenseman?

I can't answer that and I don't know if it will happen but you got to admit by the way he is playing, he has potential to do so.
- Tripple_B9

Okay but the reason why I asked, is that he isn't a point per game defenseman and probably won't ever be. To even get top 10 in the record books, you'd have to play 20+ seasons now at less than a ppg, which is unrealistic for his playing style. He's a solid 1500 points away from making a dent in a record so probably hold off on that talk for at least a decade.

Yeah, Ray Bourque had 1579 career pts.....I don't think he'll come close.

Yes your right.
I guess I got carried away a little. All I was trying to say is PK is not going to be traded for a couple of Avs players.

I guess Sabres fans can rule out a trade with the Kings...

Definitely not, unless their name is Duchene or Mackinnon.

Will PK ask for the max contract? He just might, which won't fly in Colorado.

I see 8m/8yrs for Subban. It could go higher but I hope not. I think the next big question for Habs will be if they give him the "C"on the jersey as Gionta will not be resign.

I think I'd look at Karlsson and Pietrangelo's contracts as a comparables. Obviously Subban brings an element to his game that neither Karlsson nor Pietro so doesn't (physicality) and has a more refined defensive game than Erik, but I don't think that justifies a 1.5 million raise over those two. Upon second thought, Doughty is probably the closest comparable and he only makes 7 million.

I'd say 7-7.25 for 8 or something close to that. The best Dmen in the league (Suter, Weber, Chara, etc) are still making in the 7s.

The Kings have discussed a defensemen on the Sabres roster", pretty sure that was a typo and should have read, "The kings have dissed defensemen on the Sabres roster"

Go look up the numbers bourque and Coffey put up. How can subban break records if he won't ever come close to those two player's average seasons.
