I haven't said one of those things and I still think Carlyle is a big part of the problem.
- Yeti1181

People are just pissy because he didnt like Grabo or MacArthur.

Bring in another coach, you're gonna have to bring in new players to fit his system, and our guys will have to learn an all new system.

Pointless. Do it in the offseason if our season goes to poop

Because I believe his coaching style is a big part of the problem as well. Plus I never really liked the hiring so this is perfect for me.
- Yeti1181

I'm the opposite. I was happy when I saw the system Carlyle was implementing, because it was exactly what I wanted the Leafs to do under Wilson.

Problem isn't the system. It's that the players aren't buying in right now. When they do, they win.

First time I hear Rielly being called a defensive Dman...... and MacWilliam has been struggling in the AHL.........
- jribout

For all the armchair coaches out there.... how do we know what Carlyle is asking his players to do. Where they are supposed to be on the ice? I am sure the coach has a good reason when he doesnt play a player.......

Carlyle is terrible at player managing. 5:24 minutes for Holland after 2 periods. Bozak played 1.5 periods and still played more than Holland, and Holland had a very good game.
- peddy-93

i like holland, i hope he replaces bozak on the top line from here on out.

i disagree, top notch defensive play, lol maybe from dion, thats it.

all good, i just dont buy it.

- big_dion

Dion was by far the best, no doubt. And some individuals weren't doing well... but the team as a whole was doing a great job at keeping the other team's offense to the outside, punishing opposition players physically, forcing turnovers, and driving the net.

I also remember most of you saying how we needed Orr and McLaren in the lineup so we dont get pushed around..

Seems like opinions have changed

Difference is we know Rielly is good with star potential, we know the 4th line is terrible. Mistakes are common for a 19 year old. The 4th line doesn't make mistakes, they're just bad.
- peddy-93

They don't get scored on if Rielly ( not that I care who it was ) can just shoot the puck over the (frank)ing blue line, but no puts it right on the other guys tape.

we were better, but the goaltending was the key factor in almost every win.

Orr has seemed to take a step back this year. MC can still play and be effective on the fourth line.

yep, so thats 2 players - 1 being new to the team.

this team simply doesnt have a lot of carlyle type players, which is exactly why this team is not doing well in a Carlyle type system..

we lost a TON of speed from last year.

We lose that game regardless. He has 9 pts so far, that's pretty impressive. We don't get scored on if our 4th line plugs weren't on for over a minute against Pavelski's line. Same thing.

when playing vs a team with a goon, dress 1 of them.

i dont see much point in having 2 fighters on the ice, and Lupul has faught as much as Orr this year, so yeah..
