The Leafs losing streak could very easily reach 12 games. If that is the case WE absolutely will be the ones chasing. Is there anything to suggest that we would make the playoffs in that case?
People forget that even when we were winning, we were playing poorly. - Aetherial
Very much doubt that.

TB lost a very imp player...They seem to be dealing with it...The leafs where sucking before Lupul and Bozak went down... |

.. and without Skinner and Semin, people would have a hard time imagining them as a playoff team also.

At this point...
I would settle for an energy line that has some ENERGY!
I could even forsake most of the skill.
Our 4th line is absolutely horrible. There has to be players on the Marlies who could play better than that. - Aetherial
Agreed. |

True.
If the Leafs lost Kessel (closest thing we have), we would be F'd.

Leafs scored more goals and had more chances, but ok - burn
keep being naive burn
i said in october that if the leafs didnt get their poop together by the 1/4 point of the season the advantage their youth gave them would be gone.
low and behold.. look who was right. they are falling apart and will be out of the playoff picture by christmas
but go ahead.. look at the one game a horseshoe dropped out of their ass as the game that defines their playing style.
cause that makes a tone of sense.. ignore the bad, hard on the good and blame the refs for everything. you do realize how that makes you look right? |

An energy line and a line who doesn't know how to play hockey are 2 different things. - peddy-93
Hence why I said "energy".
It's pointless to put a guy like Parros on the ice when you just tied the game or took a 1 goal lead. It's a recipe for disaster. |

been saying that for years that a 4th line of AHL'ers is better than a 4th line of goons that bring nothing but toughess.
when is there fighting in the playoffs anyways? never.
id rather use 2 wingers at 700k and play them 6-7 mins a game over orr getting 6 mins.
hell we may actually get a goal from our 4th line.

yeah.. that line is good for 20-25 seconds tops and even then its questionable
also.. nobody is afraid of them anymore. every team in the division has bulked up in response |

Not when we had a healthy team ...
and even then, how many games have we had a full top 6 (zero). I would imagine that for at least half our games we have been without 2 of our top 6 and 3 of our top 9.
The effect is felt not only on the top lines but also on the 4th line.
How is Liles not better than some of our D?
How do Orr and Maclaren have a position on the team. They are bringing absolutely zero to the table?
Does Carlyle get a free pass for icing the most fundmentally awful team in the league.
How is this ANY different from the Ron WIlson Leafs? - Aetherial
Face punchers are useful when punching faces.
Our face punchers aren't punching faces.
Send them down, bring up Leivo and Broll. If we're not going to have a tough 4th line, may as well bring in some more skilled guys. |

problem with our 4th line is they're not even bringing the toughness they brought last season.
In the playoffs Orr was actually useful, as the only guy consistently taking on Chara. |

Start with the right coach for this make up. He does realize you can be offensive and still defensively reliable. |

not all his fault
but to say there is something fundamentally wrong with the system he runs is foolish.
the sabres have 3 reg time wins this year.. 3.... two vs the leafs |
