Top 5 IMO right now, and this is mostly based on just reading

Reinhart
Ekblad
DalColle
Nylander
Drastaitl/Bennett

If someone is desperate to move from say 4 to 1 to get Ekblad. I would be fine with one of those 6, if you get a lot coming back.

Dunno. The drop off after the top 3 picks is very significant. Dont want to leave the top 2 if thats where we end up. There is little chance someone is going to make you a offer you can refuse this year who wants to move up a few spots
- SiloCity

Probably not. However the difference between say Reinhart and Drastaitl (sp) talent wise is minute.

Offensively id say yes but Reinhart is more complete as a player. Reinhart is your #1 of the future at that point and would be within a couple years. Dras or Nylander would be very good #2's imo

The top 2 sound pretty locked in. How far do those you list or some that the padawan has praised in the past last in the draft? Are there other top D-men that would slot in ahead of them for teams needing that more?

My top 7 right now ..

1.Reinhart
2.Dal Colle
3.Ekblad
4.Draisaitl
5.Nylander
6.Bennett
7.Perlini

Only in the NHL can you finish dead last and still not get a top 3 pick... Unreal.....

The lottery is assinine... There is no logic to it. The NFL does just fine without it

I agree, but both the nba and nhl have clearly tanked in the past to get to worst. In the end it all boils down to bad org make bad picks

Its not the "C" on his chest...its the fact that he's one of the few NHL quality forwards....he is the perfect 3rd line player being forced to play as a 2nd liner

Not as much of a drop off but you have to take Reinhart or Ekbald or a big trade

Its very significant and unless your blown out of the water you keep that pick. End of story.

recent history dictaits if you select a forward in the top 5 its almost foolproof, for example if edm flopped picks and gave us a 1st + yak for #2 and say 2 2nds

Not sure where you're getting this from. If you finish dead last you are guaranteed either the 1st or second overall pick

Other than Ekblad, those are all forwards though, right?

(like Indy, I don't know a damn thing about prospects and such)

I've never been so excited to watch the teams other than canada at the world juniors.

When Canada plays Sweden, sabres fans should watch with much eagerness.

100% true, ive been fortunet to be able to catch a few of the jr games as well. Seemed to have caught more last year but still when a team pops up i know a few players are on ill dvr or watch a bit. OBV last year got to see a ton of Halifax games.

So are you saying they could have done well with a 2nd overall if they traded down? Because Id agree. But you dont move out any further.

Im talking more about the overall value of a draft pick and not as much as what a certain pick might mean for a team looking back. There are a million scenarios where a team "could have" made a move and taken a better route in the draft but the value of the pick regardless of the player remains. You just dont move out unless its a killer value.
