Snow is going to be fired after this year. There's no way whoever they hire will be that dumb. Buffalo is going to get the Isles' pick this year.

Right but we already have 5x what those teams have onbthe blue line. We have less than anyone in the league talent wise at forward
- sbroads24

We are not as bad as you think

If we keep Moulson and Ennis around and Armia can make it up here we are doing alright. Again with someone like Ekblad you could move one of those guys and a D man for another high talent forward

Our depth is great but we lack at least 2 top line players. Hell. Grigo has the potential to be a number one center but obviously isnt ready.

The biggest issue is because our top 6 is so....limited we are asking almost every player to be in a role that isnt suited for them thus lowering their production....also we have a ton of rookies going in and out of the lineup. It might not be a huge issue of talent and more of them just adjusting to NHL level talent.

Draft Reinhart, trade a Dman, or hell even go with FA and sign Stastny and a top 6 winger for a 1-2 year deal as a stop gap while someone like Grigo, Armia, or Girgs gets more adjusted. We will have the opportunity to take top forwards with our picks in this or next years draft

Its gonna take another 2 years for Grigs and Girgs, Armia hasn't played an NHL game yet so hopefully he blossoms at the same time .

It's possible. Depends on Wang. I think he likes having Snow because Snow goes along with everything he says. Regier would fit in well with that I would think. So I could see it.

That's all fine and dandy, but is he able to actually defend?
- HonkFortheGoose

Yep. More known for his ability to be a offensive contributor but not a bad defender

hes a -5 on the season but thats due to the Barrie Colts being a pretty mediocre OHL team and him eating most of the ice time

He leads them with 6 powerplay goals and while they don't have a great team they do have a nice PP and hes responsible for that

Would be a good hire

I wouldn't make fun of them. Lindy was a good coach but over stayed his welcome but was a fine hire for the stars

I dont think Darcy is a bad GM but obviously had to leave. Hes certainly a major upgrade over snow but thats not saying much

IMO we win nothing with Statsny and Ennis in our top 6. We need to do better.
I'm all for taking Reinhart number 1.

Wow, that was a lot of catching up.

First things first, I maintain my post right after Nolan was hired that we won't finish last in the league (and I don't think we'll be 29th either).

Second, if we're second and Reinhart is gone, I am not against Ekblad if he's as good as the scouts say.

None of us know what may happen before the trade deadline, let alone at/before the draft either. I wouldn't hate Ekblad 2nd even if we stood pat. I love the idea of having such great potential defensemen, you can live with Hasek-era forwards in a situation like that.

Third, with Ekblad being so young, we'd be entering another (worse?) Grigorenko situation with his age and inability in going to the AHL, wouldn't we? That part would suck.

Im not high on ennis but hes clearly a top 6 winger....he just has the unfortunate luck to be on a team that bounces him between centers every game...I wouldnt care if he was moved for something else.

I want Reinhart above all. If we are 2nd or 3rd overall by all means Buffalo needs to trade up if hes at risk of being taken but not at a huge expense.

if we are at #2 it shouldnt be a problem id move a 2nd or 2 if we are sitting at 3rd

If the Sabres finish last and lose the lottey they will pick 2nd. It wouldn't surprise me if most teams would take Ekblad first and Reinhart would fall to the Sabres.

At this point last season, Seth Jones was the clear cut number 1. A lot will change from now to June

Yep...most teams dont have as many NHL ready prospects on the blue line as we do

With how it stands....not complete obviously

Team 1 25.0% Buffalo
Team 2 18.8% Florida
Team 3 14.2% Edmonton
Team 4 10.7% Islanders
Team 5 8.1% Calgary
Team 6 6.2% Columbus
Team 7 4.7% Ottawa

All of those teams could use an Ekblad...Isles..Florida...have deep D prospect pools but nobody NHL ready.

If we end up with the 2nd and Sam is gone maybe a team so desperate for a D man would give an arm and a leg for it.

That's all I am saying.

Hypothetically Sabres pick 2nd and Reinhart is gone

Edmonton gets 2nd pick takes Ekblad
Sabres get Oscar Klefbom, 2nd and 4th pick and take DalColle or whoever. IMO that would help us a lot and we still get a potential impact forward

Edit: they probably wouldn't include Klefbom. Make it Arcobello

Id rather not take another D man. Yea even though Im all about Ekblad. Id want to go big or go home in that perspective. I dont think we need another D man but you cant pass up any player with his talent regardless of what position they were playing. Kelfbom is good though. Arcobello is having a strange season and I really dont think hes actually that good. He got a top role when gagner was injured and is now playing on the 4th or has been sitting out most nights.

If you look at the prospect pool Edmonton has you can see why they suck. Some talented players sure but they are all long shots to be pros....most of em are projects. Id want a roster player from them

Yak+4th for 2nd (Ekblad)+Pysyk+Foligno....hell any forward not named Hodgson. Girgensons. Grigorenko. or Armia
