ya kadri gets 3 games and garbutt will nothing for the same type of play.

Sour grapes much? Kadri is pretty lucky he didn't get more. He clearly targeted the head. And later could have been suspended for his hit on Granlund

Talking about homerism...that "hit" on Bryzgalov didn't look intentional whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure they will be there still. The decline in viewership would be disastrous without the NHL players. The gold medal game has been the flagship event for the winter Olympics since NHL players have been allowed to compete.

Viewership will be garbage anyway because I the time zone in Korea. They are making plans to bring back the World Cup every 4 years, which leads me to believe this is the last NHL Olympics. World Cup is fine with me.

What I don't understand is; why didn't any of the Oilers players go and give Garbutt a little "talking to" for him running over Bryz? If Ference is willing to take other stupid penalties, he could have taken one to stand up for his goalie at that point.

Echoed. Garbutt also took liberties with Ebs.

This team has to push back in that respect.
Eakins does call for it as well, we've heard him talk about it and I hope he gets them to buy into the wolfpack mentality.
The other day he basically said: first and foremost I wanna see guys stick up for themselves, doesn't mean dropping the gloves every time but even a look, a gesture, something.

It will take more maturity/ growth and seemingly a couple of additions.

The Canadian Oilers are just a bit too young this time 'round. Canada is far too deep at forward for the management to take a risk on any of them. The Olympics is every bit about defensive responsibility as it is about scoring goals, which are usually at a premium when facing the World's top tenders and D-men. Hall is one of the fastest skaters in the league but he hasn't displayed enough defensive ability this year and has been known to make some bad turnovers. The Team will have a lot of skilled, fast and internationally experienced forwards to choose from.
However, I fully expect that Hall, Nuge & Ebs will be there in 2018, barring injury.

To your point about defensive liabilities - for sure, and those happen lately in the O-zone - some really awful shinny hockey pass attempts. Like no (frank)ing chance pass attempts.

He would need to turn it around offensively as well.

Not even close to the same. But not surprising a Leaf fan would whine about it...
