I have no problems with that, Vlasic is rock solid. But it goes to show they aren't buiding the team around the best point producers.

Indeed. I was part of the crowd who gave Ryan Miller the heartfelt standing ovation at the Mellon Arena a few years back. And who was none too happy at having to see that damn overtime goal on the big screen not once, but twice during that first game back...

One thing that hasn’t changed since August is Babcock's desire for a lot of team speed on the larger international ice surface, but that's not the only key ingredient.

"We want skaters, the most we can possibly have," said Babcock. "We want high hockey IQ. But the most important thing is trust. No sense taking somebody you don't trust, because they're all going to be one-goal games, and in the end you have to defend.

I was never more proud of my fellow Pens fans for that. Miller deserved that ovation. If he starts in net this year he should get one at every American arena when he shows up with the gold around his neck.

In my time in Canada (97'-00)I would always cheer for Czech Republic just because we had só many czechs on the Pens: Jagr, Straka, Lang, Slegr, Beranek. Plus I liked Hamrlik, Dvorak and Grosek. Canada was my 2nd team (with US 3rd)and everybody hated me for that.

If I was team USA, I wouldn't take Martin. Too long off the ice and lack of conditioning due to that broken leg.

He missed van due to broken arm, Olympics are just bad luck for him.

On Orpik as a pens fan, I don't want him to go, last 5 games he has looked gassed, so the break will be great for him.

Unless Bylsma rotates his 8 d men after the Olympics, Orpik will be screwed come round 2.
