Wanna know how impossible it'll be to get to the playoffs?

We just won 5 of our last 7 and still only gained 1.5 points on our chase of the 8th spot.

If we make it to 5-10th in the draft, anyone know anything about the D men currently ranked around there (Roland McKeown, Hadyn Fleury?)
- Morris

Fleury is a really steady Dman that's composed on D and is a fluid skater. The only issue I see is he kinda lacks offensive flair and composure. I question his upside in that regard.

McKeown was one of my favourites coming in. Real solid, balanced Dman who makes a great first pass. I haven't seen all too much of the OHL this season, though, so I'll defer to a professional on this one:

"McKeown is a strong, do-it-all defensemen whose biggest asset is his ability to think the game and know his position. He makes strong, simple plays, has a good shot and distributes the puck effectively."

Kinda reminds me of a Jeff Petry-style when I've watched him.

For any of you wondering (and too lazy to use Google), all of Klefbom, Lander, Marincin, Fedun, and Brossoit are doing well of late.

Tyler is the better player moving forward.

Oilers missed out on a gem.

Wait it out on re signing dubnyk. Even if hey finished the season strong, his start cost us a playoff spot so he's never going to be in a position to dictate terms.

If he doesn't finish the season well we've reupped a poopty goalie. Unless we could get him for like 1,25 I don't see a point of negotiating right now

I was thinking what a bonehead play by him, but then counted and wondered how the Stars short handed, could double team him, and no other Oiler comes back to help out? Where the (frank) was the help on that play and seeing that he was getting double teamed? Standing on the Stars blueline watching, hoping for a pass???
- ruttager17

He had all day to pass that puck up the ice, all he head to do was bounce it off the boards and it would of been a 4 on 2 with those players double teaming him. Sure there should of been help, but I think everyone was anticipating the easy dump off the boards for the break. Instead he tries to stick handle around them and back towards our own end...

Devan Dubnyk literally NEVER makes the kind of saves he just made two of.
- Morris

funny how he makes these saves once every 5-6 games, if that, and that's enough to forgive him of all his faults and wrong doings... It's pretty pathetic how much people still want to ride his (frank)ing jock. He's garbage, any goalie can show flashes of being good, it's the ones who are consistent that make good starters, he's constantly bad, he's a fantastic back up goalie though.

Two games in a row with a very similar situation, but yesterday's game the team found a way to help their goalie. Quite apparent that it doesn't matter who is in net this team can't afford to play the way they did against CBJ and Dallas if they want to move up the standings.

I haven't checked the states yet, but I heard one of the announcers say that Edmonton had already given up 42 shots against, and that was half-way through the 3rd period.

I like how both our goalies stood tall throughout the game yesterday. Any update on Bryz?

I suspect we will hear more today. Not a lot of local media at the game yesterday to dig what little detail there might have been.

Upper body injury. Needs to be further assessed before they make a call.

Whats the best way we can get 500+ shots on him in game situations before the regular season begins? Does he still qualify for the young stars tournament?

Let him start the first 15-20 games of every season in the AHL before getting called up to the Oilers?

The Oilers haven't found one of those in ten years, can't see that changing.

I'm not sure. I got back to the tv just as he was skating off the ice with the trainer and, of course, sportsnet didn't show the replay.

Well at least Dubs is playing much better now. Hopefully it's nothing long term.
