Al , I may be beating a dead horse here but I still am not ruling out a trade for another high end center. don't know where it would come from or if the dollars shake out. Shawn Matthias ? or is he another fricken Bickell who shows up when he wants. not too many teams out of the hunt yet to even speculate who could become available.
JJ, I agree with your blog, as much as I am a fan and yes we have the crown but as in every championship series, the team that wins usually has some help along the way by process of elimination. I'm with you, no champagne yet, beat St Louis, Anahiem, LA, SJ, & even the lanche with regularity this year & I'll listen. on paper we're stacked, but a nasty #2 big center LIKE David Backus would help immensely.

I am not ruling it out either but it has to be with a rebuilding team that is sold on the prospects here.....Issue is there isn't any cap space and no one really to trade off the big club...

The Mike Cammalleri sweepstakes should be very interesting...

They may well lose MM, but it isn't going to be easy to beat this bunch in a 7 game series. They are experienced, confident and talented.
- Elbows15

Not to mention they have so many guys who play with a high hockey IQ, from Toews, to Hossa, down to Kruger, et al.

A lot in the last 5 mins and he puts that line out 2nd in the batting order in the 1st period.

Are they really a 4th line? That line seems to be becoming the checking line. It seems the 3rd and 4th line are interchangeable with the 4th line moniker.

The real key for me MM is who is better 1-6 on the back end. St. Louis is the only team close.

I don't know if anyone read the ESPN Chicago Q&A with Mayers but it was some good stuff http://espn.go.com/blog/c...qa-with-jamal-mayers#more Coolest story was that Toews went to Stan and told him that he didn't want them to put captain in front of his name if they couldn't fit Jammer's name on it. The best thing that ever happened to this franchise was Erik Johnson and Jordan Staal being drafted ahead of 19

Cammy would be nice but like you said no $$$$$$$$ room and who would you move . and who the frick is re building Al, even the Flyers are starting to heat it up.what about that kid Eller in Montreal? I am sure he ain't going anywhere.it would probably have to be a hockey trade, 1 of our young D for a good young bonified #2 potential center, but I think Stan shops at Aldi's & not Mariano's!

.....And Dale Tallon gets too much credit for a lot of things and not enough for taking Toews in the Draft.

Calgary/Edmonton and a couple of others who won't admit it now, but the $$ is the issue. I have found over the last couple of years there are some good bargains at Aldi's and Stan will be likely shopping there. Handzus was a seasonal special from there last year.

I like Trestman but today..he's a PHUCKING IDIOT.

He pampered his players with limited contact in pre-season so we got a
bunch of pussies that can't tackle.

He is completely incapable of calling a run play that can gain 1 yard on 3rd or 4th and short.

He should have gotten Gould into chip shot range.

And he stopped throwing to Jeffrey late ??????????

PHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUCKING IDIOT.

- philco28

Phil, agree Trestman screwed this up with kicking on 2nd down. Have no friikin clue what he was thinking. But the hitting in training camp is not his fault. It's the new NFL CBA that caused that. The NFL is so worried about future lawsuits they have made the league a joke. The NFL is what it is. It's only going to get worse. Before you know it the NFFL will be the National Flag Football league!

What store did Stan find Khabby because he should be discussing a refund of some kind.

Looking forward to the Ducks/Hawks game this week. The Ducks owned Chicago last year and I think Anaheim is better this year. I just wish they were healthier.
- duxcup07

Anyone see Anaheim play a few times this year? They do not look so good on their blueline. In a recent OT game Fowler played 30 minutes. C'mon' they are winning but they aren't that good. Some young talent added this year. I suggest that they are just playing hard and motivated more than other teams. Other teams have not had matched Anaheim's intensity level as often as the mighty Ducks. Until I read or see otherwise, I do not give Anaheima lot of credit. On paper they do not look that great.

Somehow Khabby has been paid more than he was worth for years...And this year is no exception.

Blues better hope Halak stays healthy, Elliott won't get the job done for them.

Pirri could get the bus ticket, but might they move one of Kostka or Brookbank in trade instead? Lots of teams looking for defenceman because of injuries.

- RickJ

Won't get any asset worthwhile for moving a valuable depth dman.

Near or right at trade deadline maybe there will be enough extra salary cap that Stan squeezed out by sending players to Rockford between NHL games, calling them up like he has done in the past.

Btw how did Beach get a hat trick, was Danault passing to him after winning a puck battle? Beach does have shooting ability. Were his goals from in close? Still have to see a lot of consistency and attitude maturity has to be no bs from Beach. Stan resigned him for a reason. Based on ability he thought there was a chance Beach might get his act together and actually make an NHL appearance. Not expecting that to happen, but curious to see if Beach can keep producing points. And if he is better in board work.

What has been more apparent to me this year than in any other year is that depending on who shows up, the Hawks can play anywhere from good to great.

If you assume *every* team shows up for the Cup champs, then you can conclude the Hawks' "good" games can compete with the "great" games from all but top tier teams like the Lightnings, Blues and Avalanches.

However, you often get a glimpse of the greatness and when they turn it on, most teams wilt in the windburn. Thats why they come back from the third period deficits and hold the puck for minutes on end.

Complacency is all that stands in the way of a presidents trophy. I know, We're not Canuck fans. We don't care about that one.

Injuries are all that stand in the way of another Cup.

Say what

Garrett Ross tilt from The Rock...LOVE THIS LAD...have high hopes that he'll be in Chicago down the line...left-handed version of Shaw. And i'm DIGGING those Hogs uni's

http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/120293

- philco28

Will be interesting what style prospects graduate from Rockford and are able to win a spot in chg line up. Whom would Ross supplant? Already have Krueger, Shaw sort of light weight poundage but battle hard. Hartman acclaimed. Danault, McNeil, no pushovers and Nordstrom should be a fourth line center, except Krueger is there now. Then you have TT and probably after two more years Broadhurst could be ready. I just will guess that Ross is someone another team tries to get tossed into a trade. I just think Stan would rather bring in a young guy who thrives in physical play along the wall and is a big body size sort, not another left handed Shaw.

Not that Ross wouldn't be a good player one day. But just think ahead how players might fit in. My gosh not any way knowing how it will all turn out. Just my take if I had to sort of have an outline for how some player development turns out.

This may sound Canucknucklehead-ish but I want another President's Trophy. It would be awesome to see this group go down as one of the truly great teams in NHL history.

Could u even imagine this team goin into next year comin off back to back president trophies and back to back Cup wins, AND returning an improved and upgraded version of virtually the same exact roster? The possibilities are so insane, thankful to be around to witness it.

So much has to go right to win the President's trophy and especially another Cup: injuries, matchups etc... To go down as one of the great teams or dynasties you need about 4 Cups, imo. This team can do it. I admit I will be very disappointed if they don't make it to the finals, though. Maybe another trip to the western conference finals at the very least

They need to worry about the Hawks. (frank) them all.
- Elbows15

You never underestimate any opponent. sure 5 and 7 game series are "usually" won by the better team, but ask the 19 of 27 president's trophy winners that DID NOT win the cup how being the best regular season team worked out in the end.

These types of discussions are nearly as silly as the "we gotta trade someone" when the Hawks lose 2 of 3 or 4. Manic at best.

HatTrick!!!!........come on kid, you should have Andrew Shaw's # on speed dial & do what ever he F'n tells you to! stay glued to the hip!
I have been in this kids corner for awhile, would it be nice if he eventually turned out like Shaw. I would be interested to see him, Shaw & Bollig on a line against the Blues. A total LLLLLOOOONNNGGG Shot but stranger things have happened. If Beach were to pan out like he was supposed to then we Trade NNOO ONE. I have thought long ago that the worst thing they did for Beach was let him be a black ace in 10. I think the kid thought he had it made but got a rude wakening.
one thing you can't teach is size & grit, which Beach has & obviously can play, it's just what kind of putty is between the ears that will make him or break him.
AAAAHHHH, this glass of Beach Kool Aid was great...... Phuck, wishful thinking , but for his sake ...& mine along with others that want to see at least 1 more big , nasty.
