Disagree. The Norris trophy goes to the most outstanding defensemen allegedly. Keith has been tremendous in his own end, jumping plays in the neutral zone and putting up points whilst dragging around a Seabrook who up until the weekend was looking quite poor and out of the Olympic running.

The guy is a machine right now.

Agree but goals and points seem to matter a lot in the voting.

IMO there should be two awards....

Q said Bickell made progress during the trip but still a bit away from skating. No progress on Khabibulin. #Blackhawks

Just looked it up in the urban dictionary

Progress and Khabibulin are antonyms

If one of his toe nails is too long Khabby will stay out another 7-10 days.

I would take this to mean that he is no where close to returning. I smell a season ending injury coming.

He's already retired the hawks are just waiting until the end of the season to announce it

Norris should NEVER be awarded on how many goals a d man scores...though the twat hockey literati are often seduced by this. Duncs had 14 goals the year he won. For me: BEST DEFENDER. PERIOD.
- philco28

Norris for best defender, create a new trophy for the highest scoring defenceman, if they must, and call it the Bobby Orr trophy.

Stats are misleading

I watched a lot of non Hawk games this weekend and two things stand out to me

Hawks are much quicker than most teams and their passing this year has gone to a whole new level.
Also Kane is a beast at gaining the Blue Line and making plays night after night
His shot is very improved and adds a whole new dimension to his game and the second line
Scary

Watched the Van Carolina game
Brutal on both sides
What a drop off for the Canucks.......

- PEIHawkFan

I agree, and i also have noticed that Versteeg makes some SICK passes throughout the game. I dont remember him being that good of a passer, but ive been thoroughly impressed with his vision/passing

+1

I would add I think they are the best line in the NHL. I'm not sold that the Hawks have an answer for them.

They will need one.

BTW - Kudos where deserved. A nice road trip. Let's just hope Q gives Raanta more starts to keep Crawford rested.

- Return of the Roar

Toews, Hossa, and Sharp. Pit them against that line.

I find it hysterical that it the battle for the Stanley Cup is that easy a matter that anyone can say there are two road blocks, Avs & Blues.

To me these western league teams are all close in ability and none can be instanly counted outv as weak or roll overs.

I seem to recall two years where nicke dup Hawk teams were put to bed early.

There are no gimmee, and it is very tough to predict anything, especially before you see who Colorado and the Blues (and the Hawks) have to go through to get to that later point.

If there is one thing certain about playoff hockey is there are series upsets.

Just keep thinking about how the silly Blues announcing team during their bed shat against the Sharks kept saying that the players might be looking past this game because they all want the rematch against LA Kings (tonight) to begin.

I think that the season series sometimes act as both wake up calls and message senders between the guys on the ice.
Does it affect outcomes in the playoffs?
I truly think it is less about past memories and more about being able to play as a team and score in the post season. That's where any momentum actually helps feed the cause or effects emotions positively.

Or having this conversation on December 2nd. There is still a long way to go in the season. A lot can happen.

Yes.

As much as I like Erik Karlsson as a player, giving him the Norris was the worst thing that could have happened as far as that award goes.

Well.....

Dunces could try concentrating on hitting the boards behind the net with his blast insofar as the puck caroms out front for an easy put in. Like Stone purposely did for Phoenix against us end of circus trip

LOL

- jhawk59

I could give a rat's ass about Dunc's shooting ability or lack thereof. As long as he playing D like he is, it doesn't matter how many goals he has. Oh, and btw, he leads all D-men in points and is near the league lead in assist. This is not aimed at you. He has been outstanding this year and a big reason is because he and Seabrook have played so many games together, they share one brain on the ice.

Yep. Everyone makes a big deal about his propensity for hitting shin pads, but he is nothing short of stellar defensively and at making a good first pass.

Karlsson has 27 points while Keith has 24.

Keith does lead defensemen in assists, though.

If anyone thinks he can jump the neutral zone without knowing where Seabrook will be is fooling themselves MM. That being said, Dunc is playing his best hockey since 2010.

You don't need to do that Savvy. Just instruct the team to shoot low and wide on him, that groin will pop in no time.

Therein lies the hidden value of Oduya. It enables Q to keep Keith's minutes to less than 25 a game on average.
