They won't fire Snow. - keaner17
I don't get it. Most teams that are poop you can look at their draft record and see why. The Oil, Flames etc have had long stretchs of terrible drafting.
The Islanders just might be the worst drafting team of the past 20 years. Most first rounders have not worked out and past the first round they have not developed anything (other than Hamonic) in the past 10-15 years. A lot of people thought they were going the right direction, but they appear to be regressing. Hope they clean house. |

The Isles took a big risk this season by allowing Streit to walk without an upgrade. Add in the long term injuries to our top pairing dmen and this team was in big trouble. As for our drafting record, I think you have to throw in guys like Cizikas and Martin as decent value picks. Fact is most of Garths picks are just getting to the NHL. Anyone prior to Bailey was a Milbury issue. The team is seemingly regressing because Snow failed to address defensive depth on a forecheck heavy system. That leaves us very succeptable to oddman rushes. Cappy fails based on his inability to adjust to attrition. |

trust me we don't want him back. Most of us tried to warn a few Flyers fans what they were in for with Streit. That said, I think most of us thought that Streits exit would allow us to sign an upgrade. Instead we threw a rookie into his spot. This team has a #4 guy with Hamonic and then a corps full of third pairing guys. |

and MacDonald will not commit long term neither, this team is a mess, I know the Flyers are not all that great now, but at least we can still attract players & entice them to sign or stay.
Its a shame, (really!) this organization deserves so much better with their history |

First thing you need is an NHL coach, baby steps. Then you need to upgrade the defence. Nothing you don't already know. |

We have a similar issue. You just cant go out and get the top 2 guys. We need a #1, 4. We have lots of 5/6/7 guys.
But at least we have guys on the farm that look like we may be able to fill those roles internally if other options don't work out. |

Ha! Really wasn't but I had to throw some of that in there to twist 'em a bit. I seemed to have struck a chord which I found surprising - Blueshirts16
Think about what islander fans have been through objectively the last 20 years and think about this season being close to dead last in the NHL and you might get why striking a nerve might be easy to do tonight |

We have guys on the farm as well. Damn good ones like Griffin Reinhart, Ryan Pulock, Scott Mayfield, Calvin De haan, Pedan and plenty more. Our problem is we need bridge players |

but assuming we finish bottom 5, unless we finish top 2 and get either 1 of Reinhart of Ekblad, we should trade the pick for a Young established D man , obviously throwing in more picks/prospects/player to get a reallllyyy good one |

It's almost impossible to do that. When was the last time a team gave up a young Defensemqn for a pick ? |

and that is fine... I just worry.. that alot of times a new GM comes in and makes moves of guys he has no loyalty to because he wants to put his stamp on the team... guys like Hamonic, Strome, KO, Nelson, hell even Tavares could be moved because the new GM has his own vision.
Id like Snow to get another season except this time with no restraints from Wang.

Cant waste another offseason with inaction and re-tread UFA's for our "major upgrades." Garth has had time very good draft position & picks. Excluding JT, none of them have developed into much or reached their draft potential/projections.
He's not gonna suddenly make major goalie & defensive upgrades in one offseason.

The islanders have quality while you guys have quantity. Reinhart is the best, nurse is probably the 2nd best, and pulock is the third best. After that, you guys have a number of solid prospects but the dropoff in talent and potential is noticeably lower. Klefbom is good but doesn't have elite potential like the precious mentioned 3. |

How many gms do though? The fact is that its extremely hard to make a trade in this league, especially for top 3 defenders and starting goalies. A ton of teams have needed a number 1 defender for a few years and they can't get it done either.
Could garth get a number 1 defender? Yea but the other gm is probably asking for strome + nielsen + 1st. I very seriously doubt that snow is just sitting on his hands believing this defense is good enough and not trying to improve the blueline. I bet if snow makes the trade available for the top pairing defender you want, you call for his head for overpaying drastically. |

I watched Reinhart play in person many times and I think you're overestimating lol.
Really, until they play at least 100 games in the NHL it's a pointless conversation. |
