I don't think we'll turn it around but I think you're being a bit overly critical of Strait if you don't think he's a tough camper. That's his best attribute and he's easily the toughest dman on this team (not saying much though)
- keaner17

Hammer can be tough when he wants to, I think he is expected to do too much.

I don't think we'll make any deals period if the cost is high. It's a funny thing that last years success changed what we expected Snow to do. The mantra from the get go was patience, develop from within, add inexpensive pieces to bridge us to the prospects. Suddenly after the playoffs we all talked about adding a top pairing dman and goalie, but that was our plan not theirs. Their's apparently remains the same...keep plugging away..wait for the prospects to take their roles.
- keaner17

At this point, he might as well just move Vanek at the deadline and be ready to make impact moves in the summer. It makes little sense to give up any picks or prospects for average guys. Isles are in a position of weakness to trade.

Where have you seen strait be gritty or tough? The guy was not that great for us and gritty and tough were the furthest thing from my mind when thinking about him. We are eleven points out of a playoff spot. I have a hard time believing that brian strait would propel us to a playoff spot. Not even the defensive contributions of vis could do that. He was is our best d man but there is much much much more wrong with this team then them missing.

Thank you. Its like they are talking about a different Strait then the one we're use to watching

Vukota...like I have been saying all along it's time to start waiving or trading Regin, Bouchard, Martinek, Carkner, etc. so they don't block prospects like Strome, Lee, Nelson...and since you're a season ticket holder I'm sure you would rather see them play more than players that I mentioned...

That's what a functional franchise would do. But you have to remember these guys know more then everybody else and that's why they have had so much success the last decade or so

It's been terrible fundamental defense. The OT goal was a prime example. Hammer decides to not force Ovie outside and backs too far off him thus allowing Ovie to cut inside and shoot from a high percentage area. This has happened all year long and are mistakes Vis will NOT make.

As for Strait, I think he was rushed back too soon at the end of last season. There's no way they should have brought him back and then matched him with Crosby. He's not a true top pairing guy, but on this team he is.

- keaner17

That's about 30% of the problem. 70% of the problem is when they HAVE the puck in the defensive zone. That's where the disasters begin, and it's apparently because from the point that an Islanders player has his stick on the puck, he is considered to be on the offensive, no matter where he is on the ice. The former is individual coaching, which also has been lacking. However, the latter is the REAL problem, which is the "system", as whatever it might be. That's most of the reason this thing has hit the iceberg- it's one thing to cause your own problems because of your lack of fundamental knowledge, but it's another level altogether when the problems are apparently being caused on purpose.

Does he look at 80% of the isles d-men and say to himself "s**t, I'm better than that f*cking guy!"?

And have a terrible coach ruin their development, piss them off then trade them or just ruin them. Its a great plan.

But who do you replace them with ? And then, who do you replace those guys that come up with in Bridgeport. It's almost as bad to have guys that need to develop in Bridgeport not have AHL caliber talent around them as it is having less than NHL talent here. You can't just get rid of guys and replace them with kids . It will just make this all worse.

That would be the last thing i would need to see before making fire snow t shirts and handing them out in the parking lot before every home game till they did actually fire him.

I think Snow has to trade him. The season is lost. He might be the biggest chip available out there and you'll take a risk on letting him walk ?

Listen snow completely shat the bed during the offseason. No more desperate moves will right this ship. Nor will visnovsky and strait. The isles even healthy don't have the goaltending or defense to win hockey games. Teams don't overcome 11 point deficits and have to jump over 5 teams in the process.

It sucks, but time to realize you (frank)ed up and make changes for next years team, not this years because the ship has sailed.

100% agree. Snow shouldve never put this team in this kind of position. Especially with a fan base that finally had a tiny taste of winning. Watching Capuano work his magic on these prospects is a living facking hell.

I agree this season is done but Snow needs to figure a way out to sign him because that is one trade that might lead to his eventual firing if it were ever going to happen. Before you say it. I know. Its never going to happen.

You have to admire just how crazy they really are for thinking they got this all figured out and consistently throw common sense out the window. They are completely nuts. Both Snow and Wang.

Garth has to make a huge offer and move him before the deadline if Vanek does not sign. Cannot let him walk for nothing.
