Ryan Strome is named AHL player of the week #Isles - Vukota
I think his callup is quickly approaching. The kid has been dominating as of late and knows he's ready. |

I think many still do. Lots of fustration with this team. After making the playoffs last year, I was hoping for the good times to continue. |

Why oh why do people think that money will all of a sudden be spent once we reach this magical land called Brooklyn???
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I think some of it has to do with Ratner and company having a vested interest in the Islanders and since they get a huge cut of the revenue and will be paying Wang millions of dollars a year just for playing in BK that they are gonna expect wang to spend more money and put a winning product on the ice. Just my two cents and I could be wrong and it could be more of the same once they move so we'll see |

You would think Ratner discussed with Wang the need to put more money into the team. I'm not sure the Isles will lead in payroll, but I would be shocked if the payroll was not much higher. |

Yeah..I wasn't referring to you going anywhere. I was referring to anyone who feels dissatisfied with your blog. I've thoroughly enjoyed having someone who has a clue write for us. |

Hopefully they get the full year in Bridge. Will be interesting if one of them make the Isles with Reinhart next year. |

I think we all know how tempermental this group can be. When things were going well last season, they became cautious believers. Now that things went south, the toches and pitchforks are out. I can't blame them but I think some of the criticisms are benefited by hindsight. I didn't expect the world from PMB but certainly expected him to be much better than this. I had hoped Bailey would show up this season but he has not. I thought our defense could at least be satisfactory enough to not undermine the team but after losing our top pairing, we're exposed as pathetic.
I'd still contend that if Vis and Strait hadn't wound up injured for this long of a term, we'd be in a much better position. I'm not saying anywhere near the top of the division, but I think we'd be several games ahead of this pace. |

No question we can be a tough group to deal with. I did not expect much from PMP with the concussion history. He seems very timid. I did expect Bailey to carry over the good play from last year. He is a real mystery. I was concerned with our D just like the last number of years. Same for goalie. I thought making the playoffs would be very tough and especially after I saw the offseason moves. |

I know a lot of guys are down on Strait but if you were to define just what this defense has been missing, I think the answer would be grit and toughness. Love him or hate him, Strait is our grittiest and toughest dman by far. He's more aggressive on other teams entering the zone, sort of the opposite of what Hammer and Amac have been this season.
We all know Vis is the best dman on this team so that's not even debateable. While the two of them don't make us a 'good' defensive team, there's no debating that cutting the icetime of our present defensive squad can do nothing but help.
This team has plenty of other problems right now, but I'd say their absence has been numero uno. The other is someone needs to kick our second line in the arse and wake them the hell up. |

the only thing im really disappointed about is that cappy is still around...i wanted him gone for awhile and would have believed him being outcoached night-in-and-night-out would have been rather obvious at this point... |

I was impressed with Strait before the injury last year. He has not been the same. The fustrating thing with this D is how two guys go to one guy leaving other team wide open in front of the net. I get they do not have the size to play a mean game. This team does not have a bunch of 18 year old dman though where they should be running around without a clue. |

Agreed...me too. That said, I think Snow is likely leaning heavily on the issues I mentioned as opposed to dumping Cappy. Perhaps it's denial. Maybe just over patient. The problem for me is, even after we fix the roster issues, the team is playing with a handicap when their coach is as bad as Cappy. |
