Good read today, Capgeek updated their LTIR page, with more info and examples.

http://www.capgeek.com/fa...injured-reserve-LTIR-work

They breakdown the Pens' season opening moves and how they maximized their LTIR space (along with moves from a couple other teams).

Very interesting read. I'm fascinated with how Shero has managed the Pens Cap. They are up against it now, but have 5 of the Top-6 F signed long-term & 2-Dmen (Letang & Scuderi) as well. If Martin can be extended next year & they re-sign Sutter, the Pens should have a lot of Cap Space in 2015-16 for the Bottom-6 F as well as a lot of youth at D coming up.

The thing I think I appreciate more than anything else since Shero took over is the Pens asset management. Shero always seems to be able to get value rather than lose an asset for nothing. Still wished we could have gotten some value for Jeffrey, though.

This year could turn out to be a wash if the Penguins never get healthy but the Penguins are in pretty good shape moving forward with the cap destined to rise, and rise quickly.

Pens have all their big signings done and taken care of.

I read an article today about the NY Jets & how the have struggled due to being so short-sighted in trying to build their team. The article was about the Jets and NFL, but it easily could have been about any Pro sports team. Just reminds me how easy it can be for a Owner & GM to chase the sexy signing or trade rather than builing a winner long-term.

Completely different with the NFL, if a team gets into cap trouble in the NFL they can just cut a bunch of people waste a year for their "penalties" to expire and have a bunch of cap space the year after it really is a joke how the players are the ones who get the short end of the stick when the team signs them to a bad contract.

Good period. Seem to have a little structure back in the gameplan.

Tough tilt. Great effort so far. Fleury strong as usual after being pulled a game before.

Any Canadians getting NHL Centre ice feed when they shouldn't be?

Kindve a nice surprise seeing it unblocked without paying for it

I was at the start of the year, some promotional sample or something. I thought that ended though.
