Tough break for Monahan. My pick for the Calder thus far. Calgary has a bright future with this kid leading the way. In Calgary there's no question who the future leader will be. In Edmonton all of the prima donnas think they'll be that guy. They should trade everyone except for Hall and build a team that can win now. Bye bye to eberle, yakupov, nuge and shultz and hello to at least 7 nhlers who can play and help this team win. Too many cooks in the kitchen in Edmonton. Calgary will turn it around faster than the Oil at this rate. - therealagent
Thanks for your opinion...as bad as it is...
Calgary started with some better building blocks but still have a long ways too go.
It going to be nice to see both Alberta teams crushing the nucks soon... |

Here's what you do to turn around your ship in one year which doesn't include moving to the eastern conference which sucks donkey balls.
Hall - the only untouchable. He's Messier Jr. 2.0
Gagner - stays. He's Doug Weight 2.0.
Perron - stays. He's Ryan Smith 2.0
Petry - stays. He's Charlie Huddy 2.0
Ference - stays. He's Jason Smith 2.0
Hemsky goes at the deadline for a prospect and a pick
RNH goes for a top 6 forward and a top 4 d-man
Yakupov goes for a top 6 forward and a prospect/pick
Eberle goes for a top 6 forward and a top 4 d-man
Hemsky to Boston for Caron and a 2nd
RNH to Toronto for Kadri and Gardiner
Yakupov to Philly for Couturier, Laughton and a 2nd
Eberle to St. Louis for Berglund and Shattenkirk
There are enough UFA goalies next year to get one or trade this years 1st for a goalie. You cannot tell me under any circumstances that this type of rebuild doesn't make the Oilers a much better team and into the next 5 years.

While he is spastic, watching that game last night, I didn't cringe everytime the Preds took a shot on goal. |

There is absolutely no reason to make a panic trade at this point. Like others have said bring up Seiloff or Wotherspoon. If they brought in Liles and didn't get an asset that would go against everything Feaster/Burke have said. Now have other GM's ever lied before... - whipper334
I agree but do Feaster and Burke? They want to remain competitive. Fhst may prove tough with our 2 top D men out for any significant time..
I'm ok if we acquire a mid 20 something Dmen with skills. We alwTs talk about Gardiner from TO but what about some of their other Dmen? Franson and Ranger are bith on expiring contracts as well. TML are going to have trouble signing everyone regardless of how much the cap goes up. Unless it goes over $75mil. |

One game in... Wait till the real cold hits next week. I honestly think he'll be fine and if anything push Dubnyk to play better. He's f'n nuts but can still play. |

Oh I know, but still, it was nice to watch a game and not be paranoid about a softie going in. We shall see. |

I suspect he plays on fire, gets us close to the playoffs, we move picks and prospects to get that extra push. We miss the playoffs by one point, he leaves in the summer, we have no goalie and less prospects/picks and are back to square one. |

Though I do somewhat agree with what you're saying. BUT Those trades will never happen. Berglund AND Shattenkirk for Ebs. St. Louis would be digging their own grave. Philly would never do the one for Yakupov. Hemsky is maybe the only possibility, and I still don't think they'd get that for him.

Yea most of this is reaching. I can't see any of this happening or even coming close. Although I think if EDM could swing Ebs for Berglund it could be worthwhile as they could sure use another C with some size. Yoe certainly won't get Shats in that deal as well though. |
